What is/was yoru dream? And why haven't you obtained it?

Instead of deferring your dream.....define it.   Get it. 

"The American Dream DEFINED: The American Dream is that dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement."

So whether you have "The American Dream" or another personalized Dream....why haven't you achieved it yet and if you have, please share?


I personally think a lot of people are scared to chase their dreams because they are afraid they may actually make them a reality and have nothing left to chase anymore. 
 
You can always set new goals or find new "dreams" to chase.

I personally think most people are not prepared to work hard enough or do whatever it takes to achieve their dream.

They just expect it to happen because.....
 
I want to be a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver and I'm very serious about making a run at it.I have a plan and everything but at 21, with everyday that passes, the fact that this will never happen sinks in little by little.
 
Wanted to be in the NBA.

Want to become a well-known NBA writer/blogger/whatever you want to call what I do as well as a business owner.  Have not yet achieved either, but have made steps towards both recently.  Business owner should be a reality by 2013... the other one, who knows how long that could take.
 
when i was younger...a judge, neonatal nurse, wnba player or play in spain...
as an adult anything in cyberwarfare...i leave for the navy in feb for the information warfare community...so im on my way to my dream...after/during that just to get married and have a family. im content and very blessed. i want to share that with someone.
 
NBA......I quit playing after 8th grade.....Had to hit up McD's for a job instead. Pretty sure I wasn't getting to the NBA though so no loss.

To be a scientist.........I'm pretty close actually and even had an internship. Will be back in academia in January.
 
run a country, get a nobel peace prize, play every D1 sport possibly besides male volleyball, hunt in the Serengeti, go to a top notch college

haven't achieved any because of procrastination
 
start a college scholarship for latinos.

write a childrens book.

To live an exciting and interesting life.

That includes attaining a decent body from the gym, owning cars like Lamborghinis and Porsches, traveling around the world, being part of big things and driving fast.

I always wanted to race through the streets in a black Lamborghini, but I matured and now I want to race cars on a track. I'm slowly getting there... learned how to drive manual, making money, putting it together one step at a time.

Boredom and mediocrity is what I'm afraid of. I want to be able to look back 50 years from now and say "damn, you lived a good life".

Edit: That's my dream now. When I was younger, I also wanted to be a basketball player. When I was in my early HS years I really wanted to play D3 basketball... but I was never good enough. Just a decent rec player, then I stopped playing all together to focus on other things. I need to start playing again

Wow...some refreshing answers on here, good to see.

Once you obtain your dream, sometimes the reality of it is not as appealing as the dream.  

I graduated from college and during my last semester I remember telling myself I would find every point of contact in the Washington Wizards organization and write them hand written letters until they offered me a job.  Out of all 15 I sent....one replied and offered me a position as an intern in the Executive Suites department. 

Long story short....It was great to accomplish what I thought would be my dream job, but I started dating a girl with a child and that kind of shifted my focus to more lucrative careers.  I began working for the Defense Logistics Agency as a Contract Specialist....I was one of 2 out 900 people competing for one of the positions at my school.  While working for the Government, I knew that path was not my passion, but it allowed me to finance things I wanted and achieve my longterm goal I guess.

Being from a single mother household and dating one for a long period of my life...I started working in the community and with a local church to create an organization to offer aide to single mothers and children.

Please excuse the rough flyer...I am not too skilled with the design/computer graphics skilled and a friend threw this ruff draft together.  (Any Nters want to help???) I had to take the last year or so to dedicate myself back to getting my career and personal things in order, but I am just about ready to dive back into making this a legit 501 (c) non-profit organization.  No time like the present

This. Every lil kid has the pro athlete dream so I can't even count that one. Would have liked to be a rapper too like every little kid who grew up on rap
 
NBA but didn't work hard enough.

Shifted towards being a business owner. I did research, networked like a maniac, had a plan and things are going great. If you really want something it's possible but that determination and ambition needs to be in you. Everyday I grow and my dream grows with it. I like the constant ongoing challenge and push myself to the limit and see myself achieving everything.

Materialistic dreams are more like an infatuation in my point of view...they have no substance.  I mean yeah, I have plenty of materialistic desires, but I don't think those are my large scope dreams of what I want to accomplish in life.

I don't have photoshop or any decent photo editing software, but here are some tips:

-Keep a solid background, preferably black or white. Gradients are too elementary school stuff
-Make the font a normal, professional one. It not only looks more professional, but it also makes it easier to read.

Personally I like to keep everything greyscale, with focus on blacks and whites, and a tiny bit of color added in.

It's awesome that you're working to help others though. Very generous of you

To design for Nike/Jordan. Not there yet but Im an Industrial Design major and goin into my second year of college.
 
I've always wanted to be a cop. Finally going to try next year, but the budget cuts around my area might prevent me.

Yeah I am sure if I was there when he designed it I could help give him a better idea of what I was looking for...what you described is more of the vibe/feel I was looking for.  That seems casual/like for a party flyer or something.   Appreciate it.
