Gap isn't all that bad.

I wear Polo thermals though. It's considering to be Sleepwear, so look in that section wherever your local Polo retailer is. Not too expensive, goodquality too.

I'm lookin for some too but in the Bay Area, they don't seem to have them anywhere. I've checked all the Targets around San Fran, Daly City ANDSan Mateo. Also went to Mervyn's, JC Penny and they don't have any either.

gap and old navy sell thermals in the winter. retail stores are in spring/summer season right now.
