What video editing software do you use?

Just got an HD camera and wondering what video editing tools you guys are using? Pros and cons of each?
Also, what are your computer's stats in terms of processor and what not. I think I may need an upgrade, some slight lagging in the video when I watch it, and raw image files take a while to load.

You need 2gb of ram for compressed hd video, which is probably what u have. 4gb would be safer. Good editing software for the money is finalcut pro, adobe premier, and Sony Vegas.

Adobe premier is the cheapest. You can also get the adobe master suite and get photoshopped + after effects and a lot of other professional software.

Finalcut pro studio, or finalcut x would be the cheapest all around packages with graphics, audio editing and titles etc.

Honestly, imovie or windows movie maker will get you by, but if you want to do.this professionally I would buy professional software.

What program do people use to make highlight videos? For instance a boxing highlight reel or an NBA player's best plays.
