Lets say your most loved person in the world to you was murdered, you saw who the person was, but managed to get away.
This was about 5-10 years ago when you were in school and now you are a well-known surgeon and terrific in your area of expertise and a high percentage of patients doing well.

You get this patient who needs surgery in order to live and you are the best doctor for the job in the area.

the patient is the person who killed your loved one and got away.

What do you do?

a) refuse to operate on him.

b) tell the cops this is the guy, but most likely not enough evidence to get him convicted.

c) cut some ligaments and do something to kill him on the operating table

d) save his life.

I will try to sabotage the surgery, but not enough to kill him... Probably something that will leave a permanent disability on this guy, just to make the person suffer. As a surgeon with a high level of expertise, I should be able to do it.

If it were my mother, brother or sister I would save his life.....  i would have to make a difficult decision whether or not to pursue revenge afterwards especially if the justice system fails.

Save his life. Then mind %!#! him by saying I planted a deadly pathogen in him that will spread throughout his body in exactly 5 hours (this is after he's fully recovered from the surgery I've performed). I would then watch his torment as he begged and pleaded for me to save him, I'd taunt him with the fact that not only did my loved one not have that chance but how his actions hurt so many others who weren't given such an opportunity. After a while I'd fake my satisfication and give him the "vaccine" I would then proceed to beat him unconscious. I'd put him beneath the floor of my basement something like a 2x4 space. Making sure to take him out to keep him alive and nurse him back to a healthy enough state to still suffer from the psychological stress suffocating him. After a while when he no longer had any muscle mass and hadn't seen the light of day for months I'd drop him off at the police station for his confession and go eat some breakfast at iHop.

I would say A. I was going to say B also, but the answer speaks for itself that there is not enough evidence to convict him, therefore you might be causing more problems for yourself by raising bringing this issue up if the authorities won't do nothing at all anyway (but if they could convict him, I guess this would be a legit option). C wouldn't be a good answer, because revenge really isn't going to solve anything, it's not going to bring that person back and you'll just be committing murder and ultimately becoming just like him. D is pretty iffy. It really depends on your personality. This is because you could be one of those "nice" guys who live life "forgiving" people and therefore you might find it in your heart to "save" a life because its the right thing to do. However, I think it's really not a good option. It would be to unbearable for you to do the surgery with the thought that he is the person who killed your most loved, thus you could mess up the surgery by accident by not being focused and may not actually be that "best" doctor for this job in the area for this situation.

This reminds me of an episode of ER when Dr. Greene had a patient who was a murderer and in the elevator he acted like he was gonna save him but didn't "shock" him.
So yeah I would pick C.
