What would you get a 12-year boy that likes basketball for a gift?

I took my younger cousin (13 yrs old) to a Georgia State game last week and he enjoyed it. He hoops so I was telling him to peep how the point guard controlled the team, the defensive sets, etc. **** was affordable as hell, tickets for both of us were $6, parking was $3. I wasn't eem tripping on the gas I used, I just wanted him to enjoy the game and check out some mid-major basketball. Affordable, and like johnnyderp said it'll create fond memories. Trust, if you do something similar OP he'll never forget it.

For his age range, I'd say get him a subscription to SLAM magazine. It's awesome and covers all levels of ball. I think he'd love it. It won't break your pockets either. 
 
steroids and sprite so he gets better at playing ball.
