I want a Jeep Commander. I'd rather get a 2-year-old one with low miles for about $18k than a brand new one for $31k.
The depreciation is enormous. Of course, I'd prefer a brand new one and will get one if the deal is right.
But if not, I have no problem putting my money to work for me with a lightly used one.
It's astounding - the country is in a severe recession, GM and Chrysler are in a bad way, closing dealerships and plants, and laying off workers, car salesare flagging, yet they have the nerve to keep cars at high prices. Sure, there are some incentives to be had but when you're charging $33k for amodestly-equipped suv these days, you're asking to be shut down.
Drop them a few thousand dollars and people will buy! The economy could use the business, too.
