What's the deal with these scammer/spammers?

Ok, so when I post ads on different sites or even eBay, I get the weird messages. Why are they always asking for my paypal e-mail like I'm the one purchasing? Are people really that stupid?

I dont know if just my e-mail will give them some type of info or access to try and get in my paypal (which never haves real money in it unless purchasing) Just weird/funny to me.

it is possible. Ususally, its your email that confirms your paypal, right? Better give them a dummy email. if you dont want to, then just ignore it? idk if any of what i said has been any help.
