What's with these crazy, increased prices???

I remember when the Aqua and Playoff 8's retroed back in '07. Unfortunately, I missed out on it. 
Seeing them being resold down the years, people would post them up for $200, maybe $220 tops. 

Now that I'm looking for a pair to purchase, I see that all of the sudden, people are selling them for prices ranging anywhere from $300-$400.

What's with the dramatic price increase? Is it because Nike/Jordan are raising their prices soon?

I think it's due to ; 1) The longer an item has been out = the less that's around (supply/demand) 2) Rising costs associated with selling (Website fees and shipping)

Nike's prices have nothing to do with resale. The price increase RESALE wise has to do with people rocking their pairs, decreasing the number of DS pairs and if the demand is still there, the price will increase...its just supply and demand.

Nike's prices have nothing to do with resale. The price increase RESALE wise has to do with people rocking their pairs, decreasing the number of DS pairs and if the demand is still there, the price will increase...its just supply and demand.

Man I swear that Aquas prices exploded when Kanye started wearing them everywhere. Especially considering the paint, you could have gotten them at a reasonable price at first, and a lot of people had them. Now, it's sort of crazy. You really want dudes to pay $300 and up for some kicks that are almost guaranteed to chip? I guess they're doing it too.

It's a combo of this and the fact that a LOT of pairs are cracking now with only moderate wear. So, with that being the case, yes...the number is dwindling. I can't really speak to the Playoff's, but as for the Aquas....Yeah, HUGE rise in value. I need to look at mine...Not sure I have cracking. Don't think I did last time I saw 'em. Maybe I need to reevaluate copping Playoff's!?

The prices on Flight Club NY/LA blow me away and not just for the aqua 8's but for shoes like the ragin bull 5's (red) or even CDP 11's. Insane amounts of money to ask for these shoes. $350 and $500 respectively
