My comp that I have now is fried and will not even power on anymore so I need a new one ASAP! What are important things that you look for when you got yours? Ijust need the tower cause my moniter is still good. What can I get for about 600 max?

what i'd look for is mainly ram & what type of processor it has. hard drive doesn't really matter to me cause I have a 500 gb external

Externals are slow since its usb...internal ftw...you should take the hd out the case and install it as a slave drive..and u'll see how much faster youcan transfer files..

It looks like you wont be needing a crazy setup regarding your apps. You just need a decent processor with a good amount of ram (get 2gb), a low-midrange videocard (since I am assuming you dont game), and a large HDD. but honestly, you should just make your own.

Are you looking for a laptop or the a desktop???

If you want a laptop then i recommend you get 2GB of RAM, 200GB HDD, Intel Core 2 Duo processor, make sure it is above the T7100 series.

If you want a destop then i recommend you go with the iMac 20' high or something with a Quad Core processor. The Ram should be around 3GB, and the Harddrive should be atleast 500GB.

yeah, but this also depends on what kind of movies you are watching (reg vs HD). and if you dont game at all, just get the video card that will do whatyou need it to do.

I won't be doing any gaming so should I really be checking for a top notch video card? And yea, I don't wanna spend no more than 600. What places canyou buy parts if you want one built?
