When Hype goes too far...

Just read a story about a mother locking her two toddlers in her car to purchase Concords! Have we really hyped sneakers so bad that people resort to this? This is really getting out of hand. I wish next time Jordan drops shoes he thinks about situations like these. I know it wasnt him that locked those kids in the car but still all this hype surrounding shoes can drive people to do a lot of stupid stuff..SMH. Maybe make exclusive just an online thing maybe? I dunno

Yea that is EXACTLY why I didnt even go the release. I understand small release for shoes they are not sure might sell like Red Suede XX1(JB retro these) or a team jay but They KNEW this would sell out. Why not make a TON of XI's then sell them once a year?

I agree, retro the 21's.

But they arent gonna make more 11s because then exclusitivity goes down, and they become less desired by the masses. The first year they do it, they might sell out, but afterwards, they would be looked at as average retros. Think about the people who couldn't get Space Jams, and it made them go ham for Cool Greys. Then think about the ones who couldn't get cool greys and it made them go ham for Concords. Now think about the craziness that will go on during the Columbia and Bred release. And I bet in 2014 the Space Jams come back out and the cycle repeats itself.

ksteezy brought up a good point that this seems like a distraction/population control for minorities. Dudes will break doors for the new 11's, but are calm as @%$* about that NDAA bill and internet censorship. But then again, I doubt Michael himself would have a reason to be apart of that.

I said it before but the last well executed release was the retro oly 7. Everyone got their pair. JB made a grip of money.
I understand wanting to limit certain releases to create demand, but I can't think of any XI's that need help selling.

Like I said this is the moms fault. But really people just trampling each other just for a pair of shoes? People just reverting back to caveman days? Cmon there has to be another way of releasing exclusives for this to be avoided say an internet email lottery? This also avoids resellers just buying a crapload of shoes at the same time keeping the shoes exclusivity. JB and Nike should have people looking at stuff like this. OMG this. I collect sneakers, yugioh card, comics and more. There are resellers EVERYWHERE but when this happen es I just LOVE it !!!!!!!!!!

dude had a point on the first page asking why they release such small numbers and play into the hype. If they are really chasing that cash why not keep stocking, or be prepared when they know there is actual hype (I know someone sees this site and others) so they know the hype is building. The only thing they are doing is playing into the resellers market...

i was on 34th street last night i had to beg the security guards to take these girl in front of me because the dudes were being so reckless and this girl who was so tiny was being squished man it was bad.....i don't blame JB for these problems thoe we should all know what the stakes are at these kind of meetings and know when to simply "act our age" people have to remember you win some you lose some and get their earlier next time if its a must must have for you
