I've dealt with something similar...
I used to work at a bank and we had this delusional old lady come in all the time sending money via Western Union. She said she won a lottery and had to pay taxes and fees first before they could pay her the winnings. After a handful of times, the branch manager finally called the cops and the cop and my manager sat down with the old lady and explained to her that it was a scam. We all thought with the cop being there, she might realize it was a scam and yet after their meeting was over she asked my manager "so can you send the money?"
I almost think the internet is dangerous for old people. They're not aware of the scams that take place on the internet. They should just stick to snail mail and phone calls instead of emails and Facebook.
Seriously, you click on a bad link and you got a trojan and then some hackers got your internet banking password.
