Maybe we can get a sticky, but these are certain artists I had been wondering about lately...

-Ms. Dynamite (UK)
-9th Wonder (Producer)
-Peanut Butter Wolf
-Madlib / Whatever his latest alias or project goes by
-Kid 606
-Tony Matterhorn (Dancehall / riddim artist)
-Janelle Monae (singer/songwriter)

I was looking through many of my indie rock and urban mags from a few years back, and all these names were listed as the next big people to blow. With thesuccess of acts like M.I.A., Santogold and now Lady Gaga, I thought more "niche" acts would've made it by now.

@ 9th and Mad for being the next to blow and being milk carton status

They're producers. They produce all the damn time. 9th is constantly working, just had a couple joints for Skyzoo and Kaze.

Madlib I hear is working on his next project, Madvilliany 2, and the next Quasimoto album.

Anyway,

Ms. Jade(just wondering)

I wanna know what all the old rappers who just got put on cause of who their friends were (ie Big Cyke, Rated R) are doing...

Alan raises a good question, where Manny Fresh been at? After he left CM he been in hidin

Peanut Butter Wolf has been active in the underground scene in LA...he's got a show coming up and just played FYFfest

funny i just heard about a show he is doing here this month...

I thought this was about all the Nas remixes of "where are they now"....with 80's westcoast, east coast artists....
eh.....

LOL, my fault for hosing 9th and Madlib. I haven't really had to time to check the sites that cover dudes like them as much as I used to...

And yeah, I remember Janelle Monae signing to Bad Boy was a big deal at the time, looking at how "different" she is as an artist. (Many call her thefemale Andre 3000.) Hopefully Diddy can go without messing up her first official album.

Aside from that, Tony Matterhorn still gets major play from me. "Man From Mars" is one of those songs that gets me crunk before I start my day.
