Me and my cousin were going at it earlier and I just wanna know where the consensus lies. Now granted, there are several PGs that I haven't witnessed 1sthand, but my cuz was trippin when I was saying that Kid is my favorite PG of all time. I figured itwas kinda like the "who's the best rapper" discussions -- you know, where it's like 4 or 5 MCs that always get brought up, but theres no realconsensus on the matter. But aparently, since he's a lil bit older than my 21 odd years, he says it's Magic hands down. So..what's what NT?

If you're comparing Magic to Kidd, there is no comparison. Magic is light years ahead of J.Kidd, and that's no disrespect. Kidd is one of the greatestPG's to ever play the game, but there's a big gap between the two...

oh, and Rilla....2 d's in Kidd

Yo rilla, Check the College Basketball Thread for updates on your cousin

How is he your favorite PG of all time, yet you can't even spell his name right?

Kidd is a top 10 point guard. Prolly either top 5 or close to it. Personally I would have:

1. Magic
2. Oscar
3. Zeke
4. Clyde
5. Stockton
6. Kidd
7. Payton
8. Cousy

Dude, Shut up. I Anyway...

Apparently he was showing out.

I know how NT is about hype trains and all, so I'll try to be modest on this one.....

Yeah definitely top 10 of all time. Probably top 5 if we're talking just pure point guards and not guys that could score like Zeke and Pistol Pete.

can't really rank the older players since i've never seen them play besides highlights.

i'm 29, and can barely remember seeing magic and isiah in their primes. and even then, i was just a kid and didn't know much about basketball.

so in my opinion, based on players i've actually seen, he probably ranks third behind magic and stockton.

stockton is imo. guy's assist numbers are insane.

JKidd's a Top 5 PG. Its a tough list to compile for top 5 (the order), but I'd put him in that 5.

Clyde and Stockton were both better defender than Kidd. Clyde was a better scorer than Kidd. Clyde also has two rings and submitted arguably the best game 7performance ever so...

Kidd, aside from magic prolly has the greatest court vision ever. But his shooting inability really limited him in his career. Plus if you want to look atPayton and Kidd, Payton basically outplayed them everytime they went head to head. Plus as the league rules have gotten softer over the years, guards ingeneral, as well as Kidd, have been able to benefit.

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Clyde is the second best Defensive PG ever after Payton, there is no argument there. You could argue Kidd was better than Stockton but I thinkKidd has coasted for a long time on having a reputation as a good defender despite playing subpar D.

I totally agree! Clyde was a monster on the Defensive end of the ball.
