Since some of you all had a hard time reading in the Chris Cooley thread, here's one that is open to both the AFC and the NFC....who are the top 7 TE'sin the L? A couple things to consider when making the list....

-Do recieving yards tell the whole story?
-How important are touchdowns in the grand scheme of things?
-Is a one-year wonder worthy of top 7 status?
-Can you put someone in the top 7 based off of potential alone?
-If a player is consistently playing 16 games (or close to it) in the regular season, does that matter?
-How much do you value YAC?

Begin......

1. Antonio Gates
2. Tony Gonzalez
3. Jason Witten
4. Chris Cooley
5. Kellen Winslow
6. Dallas Clark
7. Alge Crumpler

I like your whole list except Alge Crumpler..his production has fallen off the past couple seasons and I really can't see him being a Top 7 TE today.

1. Jason Witten
2. Tony Gonzalez
3. Antonio Gates
4. Kellen Winslow
5. Dallas Clark
6. Chris Cooley
7. Owen Daniels

1a tony gonzalez
1b antonio gates
3 jason whitten
4 alge crumpler (most complete TE)
5 heath miller

Replace Alge with Heath Miller and you have a list.

Why 7? Eh, I'll rock with it...I like 7 neway...

1. Gates (Even tho IMO he's more reciever than TE in that system...then again with his skill set, who wouldnt?)
2. Witten (Better complete blocker/reciever than Gonzalez, please disregard my sig)
3. Gonzalez
4. Cooley

5. K2
6. Clark
7. Um...damn I really sat here and thought and thought about this...but its kinda like pickin out the 7th best QB in the NFC...nobody really jumpsout...so I guess I'll just throw out Shockey...

Iwont even edit that out...how did Heath Miller's name escape me? *Goes, watches NFLN...*

Kellen Winslow and Jeremy Shockey are not better football players than Jason Witten. No way, no how.

Gates
Witten
Gonzalez
Crumpler
Winslow

hate to say it

but id take Shockey over Cooley... Cooley is awful in pass protection.

anyways...

4)Winslow
5)Shockey
6)Crumpler
7)Cooley/Clark are interchangeable

True(partly so because he's more of the size of an hback anyway as is Dallas Clark), but at the end of the day, he's an excellent red zone threat, and pass catcher. His elite in both them categories, so you can't leave him off your list since he is dubbed as a "tight end" on NFL depthcharts.

1. Antonio Gates
2. Vernon Davis
3. Tony Gonzalez
4. Jason Witten
5. Kellen Winslow
6. Dallas Clark
7. Alge Crumpler

This thread is nothing more than a cheap attempt to try and spotlight Chris Cooley, just like the other thread, SMH.

Here's my list.......

1. Gates
2. Gonzalez
3. Winslow
4. Witten
5. Crumpler
6. Clark
7. Shockey

That's exactly what I've been saying, a TE #1 job is to block, that's why there on the O-Line.

is this a trick question? haha. shannon sharpe wasnt a great blocker though.

nah I just wanna see people's mentality. Ben coates is a way better all around TE than Sharpe but Sharpe got better receiving stats.
But coates could dominate a football game by catchin only 3 passes while sharpe could only dominate in the passing game

dallas clarke is barely a tight end
