Who Has Done Work Study Before?

Incoming college freshmen and in FAFSA i said I was interested in Work Study because extra money is always a good thing right? So anyone have any experiencewith work study at there university? The work study job would be my first true job so spill your horror stories.

yupp get work study. It saved me during my freshman year b/c it provided me with extra spending money. and it would be good for you since its your first joband you can put something on your resume.

I did it for a couple of years. I got a good experience out of it and the money helped me.

I haven't had any horrible experiences with work study.

Work study jobs go extremely fast so when you get on campus apply soon.

It isn't bad at all.

You need to accept that ASAP because those (work study) monies won't be around long.

I step on campus August 21 so the first thing I will do is look for a sweet work study job. I believe all freshmen are locked in at 9 an hour if you work oncampus not too bad.

QFT. Also try to get one in the department that you are majoring in, if you have chosen a major, that way you'll get to know the professorsb/c more than likely you'll be doing work for them or the office. I did it for 2 years and a summer term. Would have did it the entire time there but I gota job in the mall and my last semester I had to intern. But it will be good as far as future references after school, interns,etc.. But it really gives youalloted time to do homework,read,whatever.. I liked it because I was able to do the bulk of my work while on the clock so I pretty much had my evenings to dowhatever.

Most work study jobs are straight. The only thing is that usually they put a cap on how much money you can make per semester.

florida international..the pay increases every year to 13 an hour as a senior but hopefully i wont be in the work study program too long...

I`m not Work Study but I am Student Employment, and let me say it is the greatest thing ever!!!!!!

Even though I make min. wage unlike Work Study cats, I did not have a "set amount" I could make for the semester, I just cant work over 20 hours perweek.

I work for Computer Services, so all day I would just chill,answer the phones, fix a few computers, deliver paper/ink/trouble shoot printers in variousbuildings and or dorms, and when I`m stationed in a Lab I just do homework or browse the net all day.

Oh and being that they don't take taxes, the pay is pretty nice for what you actually do.

no horror stories here...ill be going into yr 4 of work study n i love not having them take wild stacks outta my check in taxes

if you wanna work U BETTER HAVE WORK STUDY especially because of the economy a dept would rather hire someone who is paid by the government rather than payingoutta pocket
