Who thinks being successful is about the grades? Vol. High School

Getting 5's on APs and a 4.337 GPA. sup my man

Edit: not really this cocky. dont worry about it bro

With few exceptions, most people I've known with excellent grades were not too bright. Actually, most of the smartest people I know were "C" and "D" students. In most cases "good grades" represent a good work ethic and the ability to regurgitate blobs of information rather than actual intelligence. As far as "success" goes, I'm assuming you're talking about job/money (which isn't even real success), and in that case, it only matters as much as your own abilities. It's much easier with higher grades, obviously, but it's not the end of the world with out them. Plenty have been "successful" without "education" let alone bad grades.

I'm working on a PhD if it matters.

being successful isn't all about the grades but they definitely play a big part, especially when you're still in high school. like dude above me said i know plenty of smart kids that were c and d students..in fact the smartest kid i knew in high school ended up dropping out. part of being successful is knowing how to guide your intelligence so getting good grades in high school will give you a better shot at getting into a good college which gives you a better opportunity for other things like networking and all that other *$$*.

I'm a junior, so I need to step my game up this year in terms of grades. I'm still working on improving the gpa, but it's not like 4.0 or die for me.

UPPTEMPO8387-Extracurriculars are only valuable to you professionally if they are related to your major or career goals.  The only benefits that greek organizations provide are social.  I'm a finance major and apart of two business clubs at my university and they are great ways to meet people in your field.  Even if you have a pretty average gpa like I do you can meet new connections and leverage your leadership positions to land job/internship offers.

The only thing keeping me going is the desire to make more money later in life... which means I need better grades. I'm not motivated except for the money later in life

Then a few months after they graduate we find out they landed a huge tech job or started interning at a big Law firm...If a company sees that you're an extremely intelligent person when they interview you and can see it in your college grades, they will hire you and give you time to develop social skills..Actually, in some ways depending on the field of work, it's BETTER for them if you're not very social because it doesn't keep you distracted.
Sounds like the kinds of people that kill themselves after an unhappy life of social ineptitude and large sums of money

I just checked my grades today and found out I got my first 2 Cs in almost 4 years (not to mention I'm in grad school now and willprolly be placed on probation). I called my mom to let her know how things are going and she told me not to sweat. No one truly cares how u do in school but it does measure how much u are willing to put it up with in order to get where or what you want.

I'm at a 4.6 GPA right now and the only thing pushing me is to rank high in my class and to make my parents happy...
The only thing I'm for sure of after I graduate high school is to pursue a career in the medical field.
