Why are there so many different types of Xbox 360 power supply adapters?

So I got the red rings but the light on my power adapter is orange. I'm looking online to buy a new one to test out and see if that's the problem. But there are so many different ones. Can somebody explain why?

That's because every xbox360 model (20gb hd etc) has a different flux capacitor.

DO NOT buy one that isnt made by Microsoft, they are made the way they are for a reason, why would you even think of buying a cheap replacement. If you havethe 3 rings, MS will fix it for free bro. Just send it in.

I was looking for power supply adapters made by Microsoft but all I was finding were ones made by different companies. My Xbox is out of warranty so I wouldhave to pay to fix it. Which I have no problem with but the light on the power supply is yellow. So I would rather pay for a power supply and see ifthat's the problem. If it is the problem then money saved.
