Why do we have so many official threads ?

Compartmentalisation effect.

Rather have that then tossing everything in

Da mindless scrapheap thread dat sum NTers enjoy

Participating in.

You should change the thread title to: Official Why Do We Have So Many Official Threads? Thread

The trend first started because dudes get boners off seeing threads they start get lots of replies. This was especially the case in the Sports Forum so dudes would start the "Official Super Bowl Thread: Post here!" in December and then somebody else would start another one and that OP would come in like, "No, post in my thread!" so Ska made a rule you couldn't start game day threads until the previous game was over, and then eventually until 24hrsl, and the problem still persisted. So now whenever you make a thread, just to protect that people will only post relevant thoughts in yours, make it OFFICIAL

People trying to outdo others when it comes to making a thread.

It seems like most of those "official" threads eventually fade into oblivion anyways, aside from the really popular topics.

Keeps from having a thousand different discussions about the same subject in a thousand different threads. Makes things coincise.

I understand why NT has so many "official" threads, but because of these threads it's causing the General forum to become very bland. I've been on NT for quiet some time now and this isn't helping.

I think that they're used to emphasize that we already have threads about such and such.

its the iss affect. main reaosn why i stopped posting over there. check any section there and 9 out of 10 are official posts. it gets stupid and redundant after a while and takes away from the nature of the forum.

Is TAY considered an official thread? Or just shooting t sheet about yambs.

Cuz there's about 100 "what should I do in XYZ with this girl " posts.

Would you rather those be threads?

Just wondering cuz I wasn't trying to suck the life out of general ...

But people would always complain about the same thread.

dat ratio...

"I hate that the same threads pop up every week"

"I hate that we have official threads about the same threads that pop up every week"

!?!! Fickle NTers :lol

When these OFFICIAL threads get to be pages and pages long (I have my post per page set to 100), it gets to big to even want to participate since there's so many posts to read . . .

My $0.02 . . . can official threads be limited to certain number of posts or pages, THEN closed / archived and a new official thread be created?

Official Threads limit the amount of redundant threads. That's why every major artist has their own Official thread in music, or we'd sound mad new threads daily dedicated to some new song, video, or tweet. Stuff that isn't really thread worthy. Same logic applies to the Official Threads in here.

Plus some NTers know when something isn't really worthy of their own threads and they might find a cool pic or article or something and not post it, with the Official Threads there's always a place to post new and cool information. We all win.

NT is huge. Big forums like NT tend to shift towards this long official thread style to maintain some level of organization.

It's there mainly to keep others from trying to make threads about the same topic.

Makes sense in Sports forum. Im a boxing fan. Not every fight deserves its own thread, but I still want to discuss them and hear peoples opinions about it.
