Hell yes. It gave my near 6 year old HP desktop computer a new life practically.
I also added it to my Macbook via VMWare and works just fine.
Improvements I noticed right off the bat:
better response time (quick startup/shutdown)
better look and design (folders, control panels, taskbar, etc)
less "junk" software and extras in windows 7 that Microsoft has become well-known for
easier networking capabilities
stronger security (you can add on a separate antivirus & firewall/spyware blocker or just download microsoft security essentials for free)
