You'll be sick of it day one. Even ultra talkative people person will get sick of it, and you won't really want to be on the phone after work. People are aholes in interactions that aren't face to face. You will deal some of the best, most intelligent people from all over, but keep in mind you will run into the ones that are the far opposite. I've never spoken to anyone as stupid in real life as i did on the phones. At the end of the day though, it's a job, bills need to be paid, and you still get paid no matter what the caller is on. Once you accept that it's all good.

would you be selling over the phone, or in customer service? in high school, i worked in customer service, i didn't mind working with folks over the phone, but when i changed jobs and went into sales (over the phone), it was hell.

get the listing "thank you one moment please" hit enter and the next call comes through

i would wear a hoody so i could put my ipod in one ear

wish i could find another company that does it...ours went out of business

i worked for Ipsos-Reid, we surveyed people. it was all hourly wage so no pressure to complete surveys but it was hella boring. they did pay above minimum wage though.

Old Job: AppleCare iPhone Tech Support.

best "call center" job ever. they give u a 17'' iMac & a phone, and allow you to work from home after 2 months of training.

All paid for phone bills & internet bills. you set your own hours, accrue vacation time rapidly, and get 35% discounts on everything but the iPhone.

So you basically roll out of bed, "go to work", watch TV, doing whatever u want on a separate computer. Heck, you could be naked and no one would know.

no joke, all I would do for my 8 hr shifts was go on AIM, watch TV, and play NBA 2K10, while taking phone calls.

best college job ever. also, Apple reimburses their employees with $5250 for any courses that helps you with your job. Luckily, I was taking 4 communication classes at the time, so I was able to get $3500 back. Pay was $12 an hour. 20 hrs a week during school year, 40 hrs + OT during the summer.
