Working off Commission. Vol. Hmmmm......

Im have been recently working as and sales assoiciate at a shoe store.
Last night we held a meeting and in about 2 weeks we are about to start getting paid off commission.
Is this a good thing or bad?
From what Im hearing if I just keep up the pace Im selling at right now I should be straight.
But Im also hearing horror stories about how just selling a single item at one time can kill your profit.

Whats the deal NT? Anybody working off commission?

EDIT: We will still recieve hourly pay.

I would not work retail at commission only. I need a guaranteed amount of money each pay period. Not saying it can't work, but I wouldn't do itpersonally.

Not guaranteed... now, if receive commission on top of what you are doing... then you're good.

It has its ups and downs. I wouldn't work off of it though.

I work off of commission at AT&T and it does have it's ups and downs but if you focus on selling you'l be alright i've done alright for apart-timer.
