Working Retail VOL. Dress Code

I recently got a job at Cole Haan... I start next week. They said the dress code was simple and casual - navy, jeans, casual shoes. As a brand that isn't really known for their apparel, would it be okay for me to wear shirts with visible branding of other companies (Polo RL, Lacoste, etc). My guess is no, but does anyone know for sure?
Also, any tips on working retail? Thanks in advance.

I work at Kohls, but they're pretty lenient on things like dress code. (Girls wear leggings to work, when they're supposed to dress business.. I don't mind

)

We can wear slacks, dress pants, any color shirt as long as its collared or nice, any brand as long as it's not a huge jumpman logo or something along the front ya know? Not excessive at all.


As far as tips, customer service must be good even through horrible customers.

People might be too shy to ask where something is, so ask them if they need help and if not then tell them they can ask you if they do need help later.

If I were you I'd just to go somewhere like H&M and fix up my attire there. No visible brand name shown, clean, and suits your description.

I think it should be fine as long as you are wearing the Lacoste and Polo with the small logos. If anything, just see what your co-workers are wearing the first week you are there and you'll get a good idea of what is acceptable.
