Vityaz players may not get away with starting a fight on the ice anymore.
After players from the Chekhov-based side started their now-traditional brawl on ice with Omsk’s Avangard the Siberian side want police action and a ban from the league.

The mass fight that started at the beginning of the game at 6 second may cost the players and the club more than penalty minutes. Vityaz players Darcy Verot and Joshua Gretton had to make a trip to the police station after the game to answer some questions on starting a mass fight. It is possible that a civil case could be open against the pugnacious players.
Avangard issued a statement demanding that Vityaz is banned from the KHL and the players are banned for life. They also said they would like Verot and Gratton to be punished according to Russian law for starting a fight. Avangard’s Martin Skoula and Roman Červenka were both left with concussion.
Maximum punishment
KHL committee looked at the video footage and made the decision to fine Avangard manager Anatoly Bardin 100,000 roubles and Vityaz coach Andrei Nazarov 400,000 roubles. Those involved in the fight have to pay fines and were disqualified: Gratton was disqualified for 15 games, Ivan Larin – 14 games, Georgy Belokon – 13 and Darcy Verot – 12.
Additional meetings will take place between the clubs and the KHL on Dec. 16.
The game’s commissar Kirill Belyakov said Vityaz will not be kicked out of the league as the game was not abandoned, but he added that the club received the maximum fines on all counts.
