Last night's WWE SummerSlam was one of the most disappointing PPVs I have seen in a very long time.  It's not because it was a poor wrestling show.  We've had plenty of those, ones that were much worse than this.  It is the fact that there were such high expectations for this show, and they completely failed to deliver.  Here is a direct quote from Vince McMahon's investors conference call from last week:

Danielson has to win, right? I'm sure it will be a fluke finish, but he has to win.

And of course with Night of Champions 4+ weeks away and WWE's inability to put together compelling stories for non main eventers, we'll probably see Miz and Bryan wrestle at least twice before the PPV itself.  Hell, they may even wrestle tonight.

I think Danielson will win the US title at NOC, the Miz will then continue on with his MITB storyline and feud with the the WWE Champion.

Summerfest was absolutely awful last night. The WWE investors have to be pissed after their growing concerns were addressed by Vince.

I've always wondering if those on Wall Street actually watch WWE to base their prices, or if they strictly look at financial results.

Even though the card was weak on paper I expected it to still deliver with quality matches but it didn't. It just didn't feel like a Summerslam either. I'll try and lift some positives from the show though, the Kane/Mysterio match was actually decent and better then I expected. I think we all knew 'Taker was coming back and I thought it was interesting that Kane took the upper hand for once instead of 'Taker just coming out and chokeslaming him to hell.

Now I like Orton as much as the next dude but I wish he wrestled at a quicker pace now that he's a face, those first 10 mins of the match were agonising. Nice RKO on the table after though

But of course I have to agree with everyone here that Team WWE shouldn't have won that match, or at least not in that fashion. Nexus as a group need to be pushed hard again and not just fall off the face of the planet. Bryan coming back was cool as well but he should have turned on the WWE and costed them the match or something.

Another thing that maybe us bitter smarks are overlooking is the fact that Vince is pushing the young/new talent and I can't fault him for that. Kofi and Dolph are doing there thing, Sheamus is the man and The Miz is the soon to be WWE Champ. Not to mention McIntyre and The Nexus (as of before SS

In an interview with MMA Hour Live, Paul Heyman talked about the possibility of working with TNA Wrestling:

"They're not ready for me. They're not there yet. I kind of have self-justified my own interest in TNA as a network of stock and ownership. I left pro wrestling in December 2006 and I haven't done one shoot DVD, one convention appearance, one cameo. I haven't done anything on wrestling."

Heyman confirmed that TNA has reached out to him many times in the last year but he didn't take it seriously until Dixie Carter contacted him and offered him potential ownership points and stock, as well as potential side projects with Spike TV. He concluded though that they weren't ready for his ideas, particularly using things from MMA to influence wrestling. He also said that TNA is not looking long term and only wants short term solutions and that they don't have their own vision for what they want to be.

Heyman added that he would get rid of everyone over 40 in TNA if he was in charge, saying their place is to be used for promotional events, autograph signings, and video games, but not as the core, noting that TNA's focus seems to be on former ECW guys in their 40s, Hulk Hogan, and Ric Flair.

"If you were over 40, I'd chop your f***ing head off. I want a guy who is entering the prime of his career and shape him and mold him."

"Imagine if all they did the entire show was promote the Beer Money vs. Motor City Machineguns match and had Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan and the ECW guys saying they needed to see that match and said these guys are the future now. Then, if you put that match in the main event - as opposed to the middle of the card with no follow-up - and produce and present them as the main event. Then, if 'you buy this product, this is the progressive type of presentation we are going to present to you.' Instead, you have Hulk Hogan in his 50s thanking ECW guys in their 40s before the ECW guys are beat up by a group led by Ric Flair in his 60s.

There was already supposed heat on McIntyre, and now with the incident with Tiffany over the weekend, he could be in real trouble.

Plus I think he's more boring than Randy Orton in the ring.

How beastly was Skip Sheffield booked last night?

I thought it was pretty cool after Young and Tarver were eliminated, when Nexus gathered outisde the ring and Skip was saying "I CAN FIX THIS!" and then came in and destroyed Morrison and Truth.
