Raw put on a decent show last week. Not great by any means, but it was better than some of the awful shows they've put on. However, one major problemswere the hosts. The two goofs from NASCAR were terrible. I think the guest host gimmick has officially run it's course. It serves no purpose. They dothe same three segments every week. They don't even have an impact on the show. At least with a general manager, they are there week after week so therecan be storyline development. With the guest hosts, they're on camera for 20 minutes and that's it. Then it's onto next week's"celebrity" host. The last I saw, they were planning on running the celebrity host gimmick at least through WrestleMania. Like I said, I thinkit's more detrimental to business than the cheap plug the WWE may get once a week on Access Hollywood.
So tonight we have Ozzy Osbourne and his wife Sharon. This has the potential to be disastrous. I really hope most of their segments are pretaped. It'snot like they have to do anything too difficult. Announce tonight's main event. Announce a divas match. Have a "comedy" segment withHornswoggle and Santino, and then say goodbye. That's really all there is every week.
One of the major positives from last week's show was the elevation of Kofi Kingston. He's dropped the goofy Jamaican gimmick. It originally lookedlike he would feud with Cody Rhodes, but after last week's Raw, it looks like he's going right into a program with Randy Orton. Since Kofi is a faceand Orton is made to look like a chicken**** heel most of the time, this could be Kofi's big break. Unlike guys like The Miz, Rhodes, Dibiase, or SpiritSquad who were forced to go up against the supermen of Cena and HHH, Kofi might actually have a chance to get over against Orton if booked correctly.
Now the biggest negative from last week's Raw. After Cena told us that him facing Rhodes or Dibiase would be like a broken record (because apparentlymatches that are fresh and new are unacceptable in the WWE), the NASCAR goofs with the help of Hornswoggle made the main event that everyone is dying to see,Cena vs HHH vs Michaels. Geeze, so fresh and new. I really, really, really can't wait for this one. Because we've never seen these guys face eachother before. It's so frustrating and difficult to get excited about Raw right now. It's just the same crap over and over and over again. I'msick of it. Regardless of who wins that match, it does nothing to change Raw as they'll just be facing the same two guys again.
Oh, and then MVP and Mark Henry, two guys who are essentially jobbers on Raw at this point, cleanly beat Rhodes and Dibiase, two guys who are on the verge ofmoving up to the next level. Just more great booking from the WWE. Do they have any long term plans? Are the competent enough for that? It seems likeit's just 50/50 %!#+$ booking every week.
Nothing's been announced for tonight. My focus will be solely on the Yankees trying to close out the World Series to get their 27th championship, so Idon't know how involved I'll be in tonight's thread.
