Yellowing on 3M

Im about to buy a pair of used air max 97s and there is yellowing on the 3m piping. I need to know if i can fix the yellowing or if its permanent. Can someone also tell me how 3m works. Is it reflective in the sunlight or only when you shine a bright light on it?

ok so how does 3m work does it shine in sunlight or only when something like a car's headlights hits it?

it's not going to shine as much as having a headlight on it in the sunlight, but it will be noticibly different

so will the 3m be this bright or will it barely change color
