Bar : Golden Gai in Shinjuku (or Ginza if you have that kind of money)
Clubs : Roppongi
Shopping : Shibuya Station - Harajuku (Atmos is right there for yall sneaker heads) or Ginza for High end
Eating : Everywhere srs.
Geek stuff : Akihabara
Tsujiki market is a must to eat some fresh tuna. You can also go in the morning to see the Tuna getting auctioned off. I didn't go because you have to wake up mad early and wait 2 hours just to get in. Wasn't worth it IMO.
Government building if you want to see the city from up top (you can spot mount fuji on clear days) and it's FREE (compared to tokyo tower which is a tourist trap IMO)
Don't take a cab if you want to save some $$$, just take the metro / train. It's the BEST. Clean and takes you everywhere. Only downside is that it closes kind of early (midnight if i remember correctly). Don't worry about geting lost since it's very easy to follow the maps and srs people will just help you if you need help (they will actually approach you).
Japanese are the most respectful and polite people i've met and their country is amazing.
The only downside is the cost of living there.
Go to a place where you can try different sorts of Sake.
You can also do a daytrip to Fiji if you want.
I went in the summer and did a day trip to a close by beach. It was quite nice and refreshing to get out of the city so you can maybe find some activity outside the city in February.
A few People have been telling me about Medellin like it's the best place over there.
Never been though.
I've been through most of south east asia and haven't been really frustrated by the language barrier. Most of the people working in tourism will have some sort of knowledge of english.
And once you get to remote places, the people are usually so friendly that they will make a big effort to understand you (sign will usually work for basic things like accomodations and food).
Like it has been said already, apps / google translate can help you alot.

Cartagena if you wanna be by the beach. Cool you can take a day trip to an island. It's got a cool old town.
Medellin is a city vibe. They got excursions you can do but all we did was bars, clubs, and skrippers.
My friends were willing to pay for my flight just so I can translate
Panama was lit too. Spent most of our time in Casinos. Took a day trip to the beach (1hr+ away). You can pay for a day pass at one of the resorts there.

I heard.. I heard that you need to drink some elixir before heading up. Peru is already up in elevation, that site you are going to is even higher. Are they closing Machu Picchu down soon ?

Family tripped booked for the US Virgin Islands in March..staying on St Thomas but want to spend a day or two on other islands as well. Anyone been that has suggestions?

I enjoyed reading your Q&A blog! How does the education guideline process work? Don't you actually have to be a teacher? I'm thinking of doing the people to people but I'm afraid I won't get to see some of the things you seen if they have their own tour restrictions. Is it worth going solo there?
What guideline do you fit under? Where are you flying from?
I'm not sure how the education guidelines work. I actually used journalistic activity as my reason.They are not strict at all once you get to Cuba. They only asked what category I was in once. I wouldn't go to Cuba solo. At least not yet. I'd go with at least one other person.

Thinking about taking the PCH from The Bay to LA for my birthday.
