It's normal to speculate as to what's going on but we'll never know. My guess the answer is in one of these:
Authentic
- Has a plug at Nike and obtains his pairs from factories - shoes that "fell off the truck"
- Has a plug with other legit vendors, uses preorder money to bulk buy backdoored pairs
Grey Market
- Like the others before him have done, has factories making him 1:1. Maybe he found a better way to do it. Technically these shoes are authentic from the standpoint of material and craftmanship - just not going through the Nike channel.
Reps
If he was selling fakes, he would have slipped up already with the amount of selling he does. "No one bats (shoots) 100%" ... unless your stuff is 100% from Nike. So while it sucks to wait that long, I'd be inclined to say his stuff is legit until proven otherwise.
While the occasional rep slips through secondary markets, you have to ask yourself if this is really an issue? Since GOAT, StockX, eBay, etc themselves operate overseas, you'd think the grey market/reps sellers would just skip selling to us and go straight to the market right?
All authenticators are not perfect at authenticating since they have numbers to keep up. You have to understand human error is to be expected when working with a limited amount of time. Meanwhile, folks like us who obsess over sneakers have the luxury of time to sit on a questionable sneaker for days if not weeks to analyze the crap out of them - and sometimes still not come to a definitive conclusion lol.
From my experience, I have yet to see a 1:1 rep when the real thing is sitting right next to them. There's always something off with reps regardless of Nike's QC issues.
**Also, I wouldn't be surprised, but maybe there's some sort of price arbitration going on too with how he sells sneakers; for instance, those that buy X for $300 preorder are locked in, but he then goes to stock X months after release at which the price of the sneaker has bottomed to say $200. He pockets the difference. It's a of work, so more hats off to the hustle if that's what he's doing. Still thinking having a Nike plug is the most reasonable answer lol
