JAY-Z THE MOST OVERRATED RAPPER EVER

I can understand if you don't like his music. But how can you deny the body of work he has put out over the course of his career. Jay is GOAT in my book.

outlandish? I don't think so b.
Jay-Z is signed/backed by the most powerful & prosperous record label in the world, Def Jam. With that being said, Def Jam has used millions and millions of dollars on his marketing campaigns. I'm talking STACKS.

Jay Z's American Gangster Causes Massive Layoffs at Def Jam

yet, theres artists like Nas, Rakim, Pun, Big L etc. have all been mentioned in the SAME BREATH as Jay-z, whose marketing money is SUBSTANTIAL in comparison to Jay-Z. So my point is, if it were an even playing field in terms of marketing money, best believe NAS would be #1, bar for bar. 99.9% of Jay-Z fans are sheep.

Flaws with your logic:
1) your point is proven by a random blog by some chick named sandra rose?
2) You claim Jay is backed by the most powerful label around. As someone already said, he was putting out classics before DJ.
3) He didnt really start getting major promotion for his albums until he became the president. Completely ignoring both of the president era albums, Jay's catalog is still one of the best ever.
4) You are a damn fool if you think that with ZERO promotion, people like Nas, Rakim, Big Pun and Big L would be above Jay.

1) your point is proven by a random blog by some chick named sandra rose?
NO, my point is his counterparts are mentioned in the same breath as him...WITHOUT nearly as half the marketing money he spent. So what's yourpoint?

2) You claim Jay is backed by the most powerful label around. As someone already said, he was putting out classics before DJ.

I don't care what someone said about who got classics, I'm saying he's backed by the most powerful company around in terms ofmarketing.

3) He didnt really start getting major promotion for his albums until he became the president.

Stop talking out your !++, he's been on def jam since Reasonable Doubt and has been the cornerstone artist ever since.

"yet, theres artists like Nas, Rakim, Pun, Big L etc. have all been mentioned in the SAME BREATH as Jay-z, whose marketing money is SUBSTANTIALin comparison to Jay-Z" learn to read...

Illmatic, close to no promotion at all, matter fact...didn't even go platinum until 2001 (released in 94) ...result: crowned best lyricist, and thealbum probably goes down as best rap album ever. That's without all the Def Jam hype behind him.

Besides, regardless of all of the other flaws in what you're saying, how the hell does promotion make someone a better rapper? Are you trying to deny howgood of a rapper Jay-Z is by saying he gets more promotion than Nas? All of his promotion didn't make him one of the greatest lyricists of all time. SouljaBoy gets more promotion than Nas too, he's not dropping classics.

I get what you're trying to say, but it's not a very valid point. The promotion did not lead him to be overrated, the reason he's seen as one ofthe greatest, if not the greatest, rap artists of all time, is because of all of the incredible music he's put out.

YES.

All of his promotion didn't make him one of the greatest lyricists of all time.

YES IT DID.

Soulja Boy gets more promotion than Nas too, he's not dropping classics.

Soulja Boy did get more aggressive promo (how else would horrible songs like his sell), and as much as I can't stand Soulja Boy, hell yea he got"classics" in his own respective category.

I get what you're trying to say, but it's not a very valid point.

ILLMATIC w/o promo > REASONABLE DOUBT w/ promo // Nas without promo > Jay without promo

The promotion did not lead him to be overrated, the reason he's seen as one of the greatest, if not the greatest, rap artists of all time, is because ofall of the incredible music he's put out.

He's put out good music, but at the end of the day, he wouldn't have even been mentioned in the top 5 if it wasn't for the marketing moneypushing out his false image.

Go to your room! But seriously Hov is consistent. He aint the rap Dahli Lama but he still aint overrated, just nice.

Y'all complain that people put Pac up there like he is some God, while half the BIG fans on here talk about him like he is some God. BIG put out TWO albums. There is no way in hell ANYONE with two albums should be considered the GOAT.

True.

We all know Quantity > Quality.

With that said.

Pac's Life album > B.I.G.'s first two albums.

I hope that your not referring to black republicans with nas because both of them had an average verse so no one raped or outshined anyone because those weresubpar bars.....
