Strongly Considering Moving To Atlanta...Looking For Some Insight From Those Who Reside In ATL...

laugh.gif
That was back in my hey day... I'm super lame these days. But trust, when it was poppin, it was POPPIN... Hell most of those places are closed/movednow a days.

On another note, I forgot to talk about Central Station. That place is dope on a stick, seriously. It's huge, the people are hood fab as hell, and thechicks sell dope. I love it. The party gets so live, I saw a dude get snuffed right in front of me, the cops came and drug him out, I partied another threehours, and the dude was still on the curb when I finally left at like 5 am. Oh yeah... Party never even TRIED to stop...

When I think about it, the fact that (including the aforementioned snuffing) I've only seen like three fights at all the clubs I've been to combinedhas led me to believe this place is the shh... You gotta understand... I come from The D where they turn on the lights at 1:30 because they a)want you to leaveNOW, before somebody gets shot/beaten/etc, or b) somebody has already been shot/beaten/etc. and they want you all to leave NOW...

I see none of that here. It's all love, and truthfully, if you can stomach being in the same room with a gay dude or two, you can find all the fine women your heart desires. I tendto party in the hood a lot, but if the mood strikes to go to midtown or Buckhead where there may be a few dude-dates so that I might find a fine feline... Igo. Ain't like you gonna be staring at the guys, right? RIGHT?

^ clubbing isnt what it used to be but yea, Hood clubs FTW. idk why, its sooo laid back and grimey. Nothin like seein goons light up Ls on stage

I'm mad yall are using a strip club as a selling point.

Damn your friend spent all that $ on that place, what a loser..............lol

Joe I'm not gonna call you a liar, never been to those. I'm from CT so any major city blow my state out the water. Good info though.

Lmao but I lost my wallet anyway

Central Station was just chill as hell. I couldn't believe me damn eyes. Go to the bathroom, turn around to wash my hands, n selling bluntsand gum on the counter.

People lined up around the building on oneside and the other line that cost a lil more walked right on in. Couldn't hardly walk in most of the facility, yet no drama. I left at 4, and so did afew others, but it was still going. I was waiting for the lights to come on too.

There are pros and cons of Atlanta. I was born and rasied there. And i am not talking bout Marietta, Decatur or Gwinnett County. I am right there in the middleof the city. The job market is there because you have all types of companies down there. The ratio to women is crazy. The weather is almost always nice. To methe Olympics was the best and worst thing to happen to the city. It brought a lot of opportunity to the city but on the other had everybody from everywherestarted moving there. Thats one reason Atl is the capital for African American homosexuals. Also the traffic is terrible but other than that ATL is where itsat. I am thinking about moving back if I can get a job in Florida or DC.

I definitely noticed the companies down there like Solo, Coca Cola, AT&T, tv stations, etc which all make for a good look.

Y'all talkin' about homosexuals must not have ever been to the G.O. ...

Trust, I lived in Chi-Town for a good amount of time, and gays are just another regular thing about the city.

Hell, there's an area called BoysTown.

You get used to it, cuz you see it so much. If it really ruins your day as much as some of you say, then y'all are wild homophobic.

I'm sure dude has seen his fair share of homosexuals while living in Chicago. I assume it wouldn't make or break the deal.

Pusha you're dead on about the gays here in the Chi. The Chi may take the title from ATL soon. It's not a deal breaker for me. I got a wife so I'mgood.

A nice quiet campus, or so I gather. Kind of out of the way though, no easy way to get to downtown besides taking the bus to the subway station ifyou don't have a car. There's a club nearby that's a restaurant by day

. Decent food around that area. I don't go to emory though so thereare many things I do not know about.

I work VERY closely with the Atlanta Public School system, and you don't really want to put your kids there... I come from a City where the schools aren't peachy, but this was ridiculous when I first saw what goes on here...

First, the teachers are practically beaten into submission by the administrators. There is no Union here, or if it is, it was/is a joke. I wasn't used to that coming from Detroit where they have one of the strongest in the country... On the actual teaching side, the instructors are undervalued, under/overpaid (if you get what I'm saying), and their work largely shows it. They teach SO much for the damned CRCT that actual teaching of the subjects gets lost in the shuffle. And don't get me started on the PE and other things that help keep kids in line during school and out of trouble... they are practically non-existent.

Some administrators try, but this damn testing stuff really messes everybody up. The counselors I end up hiring for our after school programs end up having to re-teach everything the kids are supposed to be learning because so may just don't care.

I hate to go hard on the schools, but hell... If you saw what I saw, you'd feel the same way. Its no wonder there are so many people moving to Atlanta, yet the City closes at least two schools a year because of low numbers... I've had three of mine close in the last year alone.

But hey... It could be worse... we could be Mississippi!
Thank u for saying this, someone actually feels my pain. After being in the Atlanta Public School system since Elementary school you realize howmuch it sucks and how bad the teaching is. I forgot practically everything i learned in high school because we never learned to learn we were always learningjust to take test. I applaud you sir, kudos

I go to emory, the education is great but you have to live on campus for the first two years and you have to fight like hell to get a parking permit. They wontallow lower class men to have on campus parking. The A is great, however we have the worst traffic and most clubs close around 2:30 am. If you go to emory youmust hit up fellini's or Rosa pizza (Georgia State University) also the ladies at GSU are serious.

I lived in the A from '03-'06 when I was going to Georgia State, and I fell in love with city.

Atlanta is nice: the weather (

), the nightlife (
pimp.gif
), the women (

).

The only downside to living in Atlanta is the traffic (Marta FTW/FTL) and homosexuality. I remember being on Marta and seeing two dudes snatched up, huggingand kissing and what not. I was

because I had never seen anything like that before.

My only regret is that I didn't take more time to enjoy what the city has to offer. Hopefully I can make up for that.

being an ATL native i have to say that yes there are a lot of homosexuals here and yes the school system has its flaws but like my dude from above said wecould be mississippi but at the same time i went from being an inner atlanta city student to going to school in Douglas county and they have a pretty goodschool system. Yes we do have good food but not everybody thinks so. Overall the nightlife is

and i wouldnt trade it for the world. As far as you being adj i think moving here cuz work more in your favor also just be willing to put your stuff out there no matter the circumstance. I think you should move to theA imo.

Posted this in the regional forum, but then saw this.

I accepted a job in Marietta so I'm movin to the Atlanta area. I've been looking at some condos in Buckhead (Paces 325, Buckhead Grand, Ovation...).What area is best for a 22 year old? I'm not gonna know anyone up there so where do you guys chill? Any condo suggestions? Appreciate any info.
