Jobless and Frustrated NTers check in VOL. WE NOT-WORKIN!!!

I was offered a job at Verizon in Houston (Humble, TX actually) but I can't find anywhere to live smh. I worked at a call center for a few weeks and rented a room from a coworker on the westside of the city. I went to dallas for a week to work with a football camp and when I returned to Houston, I got the vibe that it was time for me to move out (long story). I'm having a difficult time finding an apartment on my own because I had to break my lease in october after I got laid off and most complexes view that as an automatic rejection. I ended up having to come back to Alabama smh. Training doesn't start until the 18th so hopefully I can find a spot in Houston before then.

Elaborate?

damn

how long you been with them?

7 months.

I was off when the decision was made, stockholders are losing a LOT of subscribers to T-Mo and their ETF promo, multi millions a day since it began. Their 4th Quarter was in the dumps as well, therefore they decided to cut the fat. I.E. term employees. We do work on the phone poles, not even mobility, but the fact we're TERM and not permanent makes us expendable. . .

**** sucks :smh:

They guaranteed a year to three years, a year MINIMUM, but since we never got that in writing they seem to giving us that as an out, yet im positive that was recorded in each phone conversation. I KNOW it was in the job listing when we all applied, apparently it will go to an arbitrator .

I had Friday off to head to Vegas, when that news broke, I get home to this crap...

What part of tmo, if you don't mind me asking?
Well he's going from working at the att call center for 8 years to the corporate retail store. I've been already at the retail store. I'm sure they have tons of engineering jobs though. Just have to look into it.

would you guys recommend someone to apply as a corrections officer when they have brothers and friends going in and out of jail and chances are you might bump into them?

Change your address to a North California one. If you have a relative that lives up there, let them know why. Have a piece of junk mail sent there just in case, you need to verify.

Corrections for penitentary or detention?

It doesn't matter if you know someone or not. Usually department's morality is to report anybody you know to avoid any conflict/liability.

I use to to work Maximum Penitentary, and saw familiar dudes that may know me. "When in doubt, kick them out!"

Keep at it.
Took me two years to land the job i wanted.
I emailed alums, friends and cold called people. I had a job but I hated the job i was at. I would set aside a couple of hours on tuesdays and fridays each week to work on the job search. I wouldnt stress out about it and had the attitude that someday I would get and offer.
I had a total of like 9 interviews. Was a runner up in two and finally got 1 offer and took it.

Out of all the job/interviews I got, i ended up with the best job/offer

I prayed too.

penitentiary/county jail.

I have a brother or two who are always going in and a bunch of "friends" who go in also.

might just apply before the closing date.

Penitentiary = Prison
Detention Center = County Jail

2 completely different environments.

Much more unlikely to be "in and out" of prison as often as County Jail.

I dealt with this back in the beginning 2012.

The reason I wanted to move to Socal from Norcal was because my wife was (still is) going to UCLA for dental school. Now the bay isn't that far from la, but it's far enough.

First two interviews i got were because of friends, one job I bombed the interview, second job I got but the paycut from current job at the time was too severe.

For my third and fourth interviews I drastically changed my cover letters so that employers knew that I was moving to LA to join my wife who already lived there. I think that really helped and and in October I finally got a job. I think most recruiters need to see a serious reason as to why you're moving.

Good luck.

Sales Associate? Point of Sale Associate? Here's how I pimped my high school job. Working at Container Store was legit by the way

The Container Store
Sales Associate
• Assisted customers and solved storage and organizational needs
• Designed, customized and assembled modular shelving units
• Managed inventory and processed point-of-sale transactions
• Worked as a team to achieve daily sales goals upwards of $50,000
• Maintained a safe and clean store environment

Good luck

Just moved to San Diego and got hired at Pepsi as bay truck driver. Anyone else here work for Pepsi?
Some people here move the coke for sure.
