Some news I skipped over from past few days.
Report: Blazers WillTrade Rodriguez To Knicks On Draft Night
According to a report from Yahoo-Eurosport, the Knicks will acquire Sergio Rodriguez in a draft night trade.
Sources from the Knicks say the two sides have had a deal agreed upon for almost three weeks.

Mike D'Antoni is reportedly driving the interest in the Portland point guard.

Alan Hahn reports on his Newsday blog that while the Knicks may have some interest and Rodriguez is available, there is no such deal in place between theKnicks and Blazers.
Knicks Will Pursue Gortat
With their midlevelexception, the Knicks will search for a defensive center and Orlando's Marcin Gortat is high on their list.
Gortat was drafted by the Suns in 2005 when Mike D'Antoni was their head coach. His draft rights were subsequently traded.

Gortat told the New York Post he would welcome a move to New York.

"I love New York, I can tell you that," Gortat said. "It was the first city I landed when I landed in the states five years ago. I love CoachD'Antoni and I know [Danilo] Gallinari from Europe."

Otis Smith can match any offer, but said he knows it will be a financial challenge to retain Gortat.

"He's got the best job in America, playing behind my best player, playing 8 to 10 minutes," Smith said. "He goes out and does his job andprobably has the best work ethic of anyone in the locker room. Can he start for another team? Yeah he can.

"I'll just deal with it and the market will dictate where he goes," Smith added.
Heat Hoping To Get Kidd For MLE?
The Heat areknocking on the door of the luxury tax threshold, so the mid-level exception is their only real option this summer.
The mid-level exception, worth roughly $5 million, is all they'd be able to offer a difference-maker.

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald wrote about the possibility of Jason Kidd agreeing to such a deal on Monday.

thanks for making a thread for this, I spit out my juice when I saw that reggie Evans and Kapono got a thread

76ers should have waited for Sasha

I didn't know about the Sheed to Cleveland negotiations.

Memphis needs to take Gortat away from NY and just offer a little more, he's the perfect backup center.

Best thread ever....props to JapanAir, SHUGES, franchise, CP and the usual suspects in advance for keeping this updated.

Cleveland in the mix already...I like it.

I like Sessions, but I don't like him in Atlanta. If they were to getSessions, teams could just zone them up because the only shooting threat would be JJ. Sessions, Marvin (if he stays) and Josh won't be any threat on theoutside.

the heat NEED to spend money to GET WADE MORE HELP.... wade is in the same situation that kobe and lebron was in before.... kobe and lebron made threats andthe team got them what they needed to get where they are at now.... i just dont see why the heat are waiting to spend the money.... we need a back up PG and aall star type SF that can create his own shot.... chalmers, wade, cook, beasley, haslem.... are the core guys of this team...

kidd??? i really dont see what he can bring to this team.... i just think dude is too old now...

great info there thanks....love the move for Reggie Evans Toronto has been looking for some toughness and rebounding for a while and with the Raps looking atSG/SF in the draft Kapono had to go

YoungTriz: weren't there some rumors about Boozer to Miami? I still don't know where that leaves them with Haslem but, I thought I remembered somethinglike that. Also, I don't think picking up Artest (if he walks) would be a bad move for you guys. I mean, DWade had a great year and you guys were the 5seed, never know what can happen with another solid guy.

DWade/Chalmers
Beasley
Artest
Haslem
O'Neal

Not bad at all, would still probably get you that 4 seed in the East, maybe even the 3 depending on Boston (yes I'm being a homer

)

So, the Cavs want to acquire Sheed and Shaq to subdue Howard? They'd still have enough expiring deals to go after one more guy. I can't wait to see howthis turns out. It puts a TON of pressure on Smith to keep and bring in more talent and Howard to improve his game.

.... i just dont see why the heat are waiting to spend the money....

You clearly don't understand how the NBA works. The MLE and a first round draft pick is all theyhave. Their expiring deals, like Cleveland's, have their most value after teams have been able to judge their chemistry and talent. The players thatwere available this past season will only be available if their teams are playing poorly again. Some guys that were available (Shaq for one) are less availablethis season because their own deal is expiring. Miami has to hope that O'Neal or Haslem are willing to take a buyout in order to join a contender. Thatwould make their expiring deals much more valuable.

That's what I was thinking. I was like where is all this money coming from for them to get these type of FA's.

no way. where would you be, a BACKUP center in MEMPHIS, or a STARTING center in NEW YORK? go figure.
kidd would bring veteran leadership to wade, with some experience working together in the olympics. he could teach chalmers and cook a few things.
maybe its me, but i like haslem as an heat. dude knows his role, and the knicks would gladly take him if anything

Booz to Miami was before they traded for O'Neal (Marion's expiring contract)

Sure, but I doubt he's in their long term plans. He, and a lot of other Heat players not named Jermaine O'Neal, have expiring deals at a great pricepoint.

my bad... i meant i dont see why the heat aint willing to spend the money to get players that wade needs now... the cavs are willing to do it for lebron...justpay the taxes to keep a player like wade around... he is the face of the franchise... being one of the top 3 players in the league is something special tobuild around....so why not do it and keep him happy now because he wants to win... instead of waiting til 2010 where we are just a average team, then he isjust gonna wanna leave... J.O. is not leaving his 23mill next year... because he knows damn well he aint even come close to seeing that ever... like i said...chalmers, wade, cook, beasley, haslem are the core dudes... everyone else can be traded... man i wish we can get butler back...

you may get value for him, but will those players bring the same voice (vocally in the lockerooms) haslem will? i rather resign him. dudedoesn't have that many years left if i remember correctly anyway....let dude retire as an heat.

Speaking of Jermaine..
Jermaine And Diawara ExerciseOptions To Stay With Miami
Jermaine O'Neal and Yakhouba Diawara of the Miami Heat exercised options to remain under contract for next season.

Both had contracts mandating they "opt in" for the final years of their deals. O'Neal will make nearly $23 million in the 2009-10 NBA season, while Diawara's salary is around $900,000.

^eh, not surprised

a lot of teams would be interested in those two contracts in this economy/saving for 2010.

Does anyone know where I can payroll and length of contracts for each team? Miami will only have like 3-5 players under contract for 2010
