The Official Photography Thread - Vol. 3

I wish they made an iPad specifically for photo editing that ran a full version of Photoshop and utilized a tablet pen. I would love to have that to edit on the fly. Use the pen to mask things out better. Would be cool to do a on the spot edit even for clients to see what their photos can look like.

Tried it, but it doesn't work. Quality is there it's the size in which I was questioning about. 
 
Hey y'all I got a question I've been trying to manual focus and it won't let me.
I've watched a few tutorials and Idk what I'm doing wrong. What could be the issue?

You're shooting with the D3200 right? If you're shooting with the kit lens it could be that you didn't flip the switch from "A" to "M". The switch should be right above the VR switch.

I'm using the 18-55mm this pic was 35 and the two that came with it doesn't have the VR switch but I do have it switched to M

Well it looks like you indeed have it in manual focus mode. Those settings look a bit tough to shoot handheld though; the blurriness of your photo could be due to camera shake. 1/1.6 seconds is extremely difficult to keep steady (in my opinion). I suggest switching to shutter-priority so you can bump up the shutter speed to reduce camera shake. A good rule of thumb is to keep your shutter speed at the reciprocal of the focal length you're shooting at. For example, you said the picture was taken at 35mm; the reciprocal rule would suggest shooting at 1/35s minimum. Now this rule isn't always effective, but the faster the shutter speed the easier it is to reduce the effects of camera shake.

Thanks I'm gonna write that down,I was thinking it being that fast it could snap before my hand started to shake
 
Finally got some time to play around with my a6000 and thought about those of you who are now learning to use a camera... Please make sure to take the time and learn where everything is on your camera. The reason I say that is because a camera straight out of the box is not going to be custom tailored to you. You may find that changing settings while your camera is up to your face becomes a guessing game sometimes. Go through your menu and reassign your function buttons to something that helps your workflow. I just had to assign ISO to a custom button and then swap the shutterspeed and aperture dials with each other. Initially the button layout on the camera was driving me crazy but now all is good.
