How fun is Mardi Gras?

Wow I completely forgot about this thread

For an update, I did in fact go that year and had the time of my life. Stories for days...going ham in strip clubs, smoking a blunt with some random ppl in the middle of bourbon st, throwing beads at chicks from the balconies, had great food and just an awesome time all around. I know people will say it was mostly a "tourist" area but I still had a blast. Although next time I want to see another part for a night just for a change, I've heard the Boot is a well known bar to check out too.

It was one of my best experiences in college no doubt. So great I've been back twice since, once last fall during the LSU-UF weekend and then mardi gras in 2012 and I already got my room booked for 2013's. The time I went for the football game was different but just as great. The place wasn't as packed as mardi gras gets but it's still a wild time, plus our group was only 3 of us vs the 20+ ppl we went with for mardi gras. Went there for two nights then Baton Rouge for the game which was a whole nother story in itself.

And I'll actually be 21 this time so I can check out Harrah's

And as for that chick in the op goddamn I completely forgot about her. What a simp I sound like reading back that post smh, soooooo glad i decided to go to mardi gras vs that one haha
aahhh the Boot. I went to Tulane and it's right on campus. I used to look out Newcomb Hall and salivate. I've seen it ALL go down in there lol. I graduated from Tulane in May, but I'm from New Orleans so I can't even miss it. I live here! GET BOOT PIZZA! The best pizza and it's cheap. It's right next door.

Oh yeah, pet peeve. Stop saying "the Mardi Gras". It's just Mardi Gras. It isn't one day, it's about 2 weeks of parades and partying. Don't limit yourself to just Bourbon St. The entire downtown area is poppin and there are countless clubs and parties going on. If you haven't experienced it, you're losing. Oh and Mardi Gras after the Saints won the Superbowl was the most out of control experience ever! If you missed out, you REALLY missed out.

Peace fambs

NT never fails my friend just sent me a link about some tickets.... How much money do you need to really have a good time out there I'm figuring it shouldnt be as expensive as say an L.A trip or something

would love to make it down there as well. i love the mixed heritages and culture. down there, food must be bomb. just something magical to me about new orleans.

Damn, i'm fiending to go next year. It's right before my birthday. Any recommendations of hotels to stay out for a decent price. Of course prefereably on Bourbon st with a view of the festivities.

I have never been to Mardi Gras, but I went to NO last September for Bears game. People were very nice (dime chick gave me some shrimp at game), very pro-Saints (heard ppl blowing the horns and screaming WHO DAT bc I wore Hester jersey) and food was great. I went to Harrahs to end my trip and came up on the roulette table.

MOTHERS!!!!! :smokin

The strip was cracking...came up on bout five chicks, took one back to crack. DC, if you can still talk while drunk, you will touchdown. I'm hoping my bears make it to superbowl so I can go, but I really wanna experience mardi gras.

top five regret in life-not going to NO during my college years

LMAO, she actually shared some of her shrimp with me while we were at the Superdome. I just walked up to her and asked. I love that southern hospitality.

Im planning to go next year, anybody got tips (stories are appreciated), tricks and cost for out of "stater".

I really want to get this experience under my belt, :smokin

DC yea it's easy for the most part, but a good amount of the chicks who flash aren't really ones you want to see anyway. There's strip clubs all over bourbon too so you'd have to try not to see any. When I went the time I made this post, there was this balcony with some porn star looking chick on a handheld loudspeaker and I remember she was yelling at some dude across the street to do something and she'll bring all the girls in the room out. Well w/e it was he must have did it because she brought out like 8 super fine chicks n just flashed for everyone.

Banks yea Mother's is awesome!!! :pimp: We stay at a hotel right around the block from it so I've been there quite a few times. In my last visit we tried some seafood place called Pascal's and I had the best shrimp I've ever had in my life. That was a little away from Bourbon. Can't forget about Cafe Dumonde. The trick is just to pay the bus boys on the side for a takeout order rather than wait in that line forever.

To the dude asking about the cops, yea they were out but they give no dambs. The only rules seem to be no fighting, no pissing in public, and no glass bottles. They'll roll through Bourbon on horses and straight run you over if you're in the way. Obviously they'd probably do something if they caught you blazing but we didn't run into any when I was with those people. We just took a few hits n rode. Come to think of it I was killing a j with my boy on one of the balconies, on a part that wrapped around the side. One of their employees caught us but was super cool with it, just said to finish it up. I know Bourbon has a lot of tourists, but all the people I've come across have been really nice n cool people for the most part. It's a fun place to be so it's good vibes.

Iron Man, two of the more well known bars you gotta check out are Tropical Isle and Pat O'briens. They got their own signature drinks and stuff. There's three tropical isle's and one has a balcony area that you can go up on and throw beads n stuff. That's the only balcony I've ever been on, not sure how you get up on other ones. I can only really speak on Bourbon and more touristy stuff, because that's all I've really done there but I've had a blast every time. I would also advise you to get a hotel as close to Bourbon as you can if that's the only area you're gonna hit and especially if you're going for Mardi Gras weekend, because it gets pretty congested and could take forever to get into the french quarter. If you're there for like 2 or 3 days you won't run out of stuff to do around that area.

Banks how easy/simple is it man? Do I need to buy some beads?

DC they all going! I actually had a camcorder with me (first time doing that) a cup of Hennessy and a cigar. Chicks were just showing love. And not to brag but chicks worldwide show love when they hear you from the Chi!

After I sent the one I nailed home I went thru the phone and saw I had four or five more that woulda went. I'm definitely going back just need a couple of friends to go with.

good thing this thread got bumped

I'm seriously thinking about to N.O. superbowl weekend or for Mardi Gras

you should def go. Ive been a couple times and its absolutly crazy. Its the best place to go if you like to drink and eat.

The only negatives are that bourbon smells like dead people and it gets hellah crowded.

And dont worry about beads..you can get them down there...bars will also give them to you for free if you go on the balconies

lol so whats the percentage of you leaving back to the room with a girl .... on mardi gras

I'm trying to go in 2013 on the weekend of the 15th since it's my bday weekend and supposedly the biggest partying weekend for mardi gras. One of my boys is down and it seems like the rest are faking. I'm thinking a crew of four should be solid, I really want like a suite setup where we can just roam into each others rooms and engage in shenanigans openly.

Any suggestions on suites at a decent price.
