News On Future Films Based on Comics/Paranormal/Sci-Fi

X-post from the TASM 2 thread:

First looks at Rhino and GG!?!?!?!?!

GG isn't clear but he looks more Franco GG than Dafoe. Rhino though? They made him a tank? :x I think he will still have that Rhino suit though since they shot his scenes in that giant armor-like prop.

Thor: The Dark World was great.

Could've done with some more Kat boobs but other than that enjoyed it. Wonder what happened to Odin

If the ether is suppose to be a gem I'm not sure which one. It's red like the power gem but it aint really demonstrate that throughout the film.

Also I'm guessing that intern kid took advantage of the gravity fluctuating to pick up that car?

What I got from this is they could easily do a Thor trilogy and not go to Earth at all. I want to see something with Hela, Sutur, and going more in depth with the other 9 realms.

I REALLY didnt like Thor at all.  The fight scenes were short and dull, Odin was incredibly depowered, Thor had little to nothing to do with stopping the Aether, and that GOtG scene can kick rocks.

I know I'm late because I don't come in here a lot but I'm glad Marvel got the DD rights back.  I hope they do it right.

Well they are making shows for some of the defenders characters. Wonder what will be the prime difference between the defenders tv universe and the avengers cinematic universe.

First Teaser For Guillermo Del Toro's THE STRAIN

The Strain finds Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) and his team battling a mysterious viral outbreak that appears to bear all the hallmarks of an ancient strain of vampirism. The condition spreads, and soon Ephraim and a group of ordinary New Yorkers are battling for the fate of humankind. The cast also features the likes of Kevin Durand, Mia Maestro, Sean Astin, Robert Maillet, John Hurt (though he’s only in the pilot, and David Bradley will take over his role in the series) and del Toro regular Doug Jones.

Over the course of the next 5-6 years, there should be a new batman w/ affleck, a new WW movie and maybe a team-up of GL, Flash and Cyborg movie leading into WORLDS FINEST where the league is put together....to face....MONGUL.

then phase II you start with the sidekicks and lead into YOUNG JUSTICE (damn I loved that cartoon)....to face VANDAL SAVAGE

phase III intertwine the above to face DARKSEID

Im still mad till this day that they canceled that masterpiece of a cartoon

stupid cartoon network :smh:

CW Reportedly Developing A YOUNG JUSTICE Series Featuring Superboy And More

Bleeding Cool reports that Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are planning on bringing Young Justice to the same network responsible for Arrow and The Flash. According to the site, "the CW is developing another live action teen drama/romance series with a superhero twist, based on the Young Justice cartoon, games and comics, being prepped for 2015." They go on to add that Superboy and Miss Martian will be the leaders of the team, but with Nightwing set to appear in Batman Vs. Superman, will that mean Robin is off-limits?

Warner Bros. And DC To Focus On Lower Budget Superhero Movies Twice A Year?

According to Bleeding Cool, DC Entertainment's big news for 2014 may be that they are planning on prioritising, "A series of lower-prominence comic books being turned into relatively lower budget movies." This matches up with earlier reports that Warner Bros. have turned to David Goyer as a Kevin Feige-like character to work on treatments for adaptations which include Booster Gold, Deathstroke, Sandman, Team 7 and Suicide Squad, with the latter being specifically mentioned as a movie which would need only a $40 million budget. Others could apparently be made for as little as $20 million. Their release schedule would be on a two-a-year basis in the Spring and Fall, giving Warner Bros. an opportunity to make a big profit and perhaps even expand the worlds of Batman and Superman in the process.

Shouldn't expect anything less from the CW seeing how young women are the network's demographic.

To be fair, first half of the Smallville series was great and it seems Arrow is still getting better.

A Deathstroke movie would be cool. But why in the world did they include Sandman to that list? Lower-prominence? Low-budget? :smh:

Sandman can be a Harry Potter/LOTR - like franchise for WB, if done right.

not going lie.. i had to do a double take a when i read sandman and DC together.. when i think of sandman, i think of the spiderman villain

i'm trying remember who the other character was that, that happened with.. i think it was a marvel character whose name is now more synonymous with another character

I just don't think he is a big enough name. With that said, lower budget doesn't necessarily mean a bad film though, if written right it can still be a success. It just doesn't have the name to bring in big bucks off the line, it'll need traction and good word of mouth. It's not like the Iron Man or Spiderman name where the movie could suck but it'll still make hundreds of millions off the name alone.

I mean just proof alone is the post after yours where Sandman character was more associated as the Spidey villain.

Well, yeah. Sandman is indeed kind of a niche character that does have a massive cult following. I think it would thrive though, if given the chance. I do believe that it can hold it's own as it's not just pretty limited to comic book fans.

And yes, small budget doesn't mean a bad movie. I liked The Losers, and I don't think it's a big budget movie (I maybe wrong though). I just feel that with the kind of depth the world of Sandman has, they would really have to bring it all in to pull it off nicely.

So apparently the rumor with Age of Ultron is that JARVIS turns evil somehow which would actually be a pretty cool modern take on Ultron's origins without the "Ant-Man gets hit with amnesia" crap.

^That was the old rumor. That's what fans were speculating once the title was released. The recent one was the US military created some computer program to kinda make the Avengers obsolete and then it turns evil. So Terminator meets Avengers without the time travel (but possibly could have time travel if they wanted).

Not surprised @ CW and Young Justice. Aint been nothing good on that network in a while. The Tomorrow People disappointed me. Can't even watch shows with girls I want to bang unless it's on mute.

What got me was how they're going to do the Hourman tv series:
The New Hourman TV Show For CW Mixes It Up
We know that CW is developing a TV show based on the DC character Hourman, in which the lead is granted superpowers upon taking a drug, but they only last for an hour a day.

Bleeding Cool has been briefed that this has been twisted for the TV show, with a little Dial H For Hero and 100 Bullets, even a little Fantastic Four.

Because the proposal is that the drug Miralco from the comic book series, in the TV show will have a different effect on each person who takes it, summoning different powers and abilities based on their personality, enhancing existing talents or abilities tenfold, but with terrible side effects.

And a different person will get the powers each week…

That's not Hourman. Might as well call it Dial H.

Anyway, is Del Toro's The Strain a movie or tv show? :nerd: and on what network?

Ohh so almost exactly what DC is doing with New 52 JL vs JLA. Liked the Jarvis one better.
