So, do you think KOBEs will be worth as much as JORDANs are now in 20 years?

maybe

I would say so yeah maybe not as much as jordans since jordans will go up as well by then being that they are older... but definitley older kobe shoes like the ones he had when he was with adidas like the kb8's and moon shoes.. and maybe in 30 years they should be worth more
happy.gif
.. I mean over time anything will get more valued after a while as they become more difficult to come by

nope, i feel like with jordan ppl have a more emotional connection with them, thats y there value always increases, some define a moment, in mj's life and his fans, that bond is what makes J's what they are today, i feel Kobe's line doesnt do that

No, because the culture has shifted. When Jordan first entered the game, "shoe collecting" was not a thing. "niketalk" or any talk did not exist. We don't collect headbands right now, do we? (dont' answer that). Because for the most part, they are all the same. That's the way the NBA was, everybody wore Chuck Taylors, then Weapons. There were a few alternatives, but basically about 10 pairs of shoes were on everybody's feet. Then Jordan came in and changed the game. He made the signature shoe what it was, and at that time - there were few 'collectors'.

Now, as you can tell, tons of people are shoe freaks and corporations have responded with mass quantities of all types of shoes, and also re-retroed old ones. As long as the retro fad is going, nothing made these days will be 'worth' all that much 20 or even 30 years from now (will we still wear shoes then?)

I think OP should change the question to "who had the better kicks" 20 years from now. That's what this thread is already turning to.

As for my answer... If Nike continues to produce amazing shoes like the IV and V for kobe line until he retires... then the Nike Kobe line should be the 2nd best ever. JB line is untouchable even if I hate half of the numbered Jordans.

pennys>barkleys>twenty other Nike Bball shoes>lebrons.

I'm going with no.

The marketing engine behind MJ was pure genius, cross marketing, movie product placement, his persona, the commercials, the timing, the era that AJs dropped in, so many things that drove AJ sales through the roof.

Remember back in the day when Jordans were THE shoe to have, especially on release day? Skipping HS to stand outside/inside the mall waiting for the (insert shoe store name here)
to open?

Sadly when was the last time someone was shot/robbed of their Kobes? Just saying to keep this in perspective outside of looking at eBay prices which is more or less speculating.

MJ's charisma + legacy > Kobe's, that why I think that's why it gonna be this way.

Even though JB & current retroes are really beating a dead horse repeatedly & sales are slipping since "errbody is a collecta nowdays"
