One of my main problems with Android. The messaging system. If every phone just hand hangouts for messaging and it working like iMessage does it would be legit. But since we have all these different phones with different agendas it may never be

I'm sure it has been mentioned in here before, but you guys should check out the Mark As Read app if you haven't already. It gives you the ability to mark a gmail email as read from the notifcation panel. I'm pretty anal when it comes to keeping my notifications empty so it's a nice little time saver.
Same exact way.. When I see my sisters phone with 10000 unread emails :x makes me sick to my stomach

you could say the same thing the other way around though. that has nothing to do with android in particular, but rather the big companies (apple vs google) pushing their own agendas/operating systems

having said that, hangouts works across platforms whereas imessage only works on apple products so it's not really android that's failing to cooperate

That isn't exactly what I was getting at. The problem I have is getting people to use Hangouts. People use iMessage without even knowing they are using it. They literally think that messages work that well when in reality the system is at work. It is what the standard should be for SMS/MMS/Video etc. (the way it works)

Hangouts will probably not get there because manufacturers have their own agendas when it comes to their SMS apps and the two will stay separated. It needs to just be hangouts, with everything integrated doing the work for you. It needs video support as well.

But I do like that it can be used on the iPhone etc

Buying the phone when vzw orsprint have their deals with a 2year contract. Like s4 $100

When ready for upgrade sell sr for say $350, got back to carrior renew contract for another phone paying $100-$200 for the phone

$150 profit

Little do he know he really paying for yhe phine added in to his high bill

That is why carriors charge alot or even chargr for data, your paylike extra $20 a month back for the rest of the phone cost

I worked for my carrier for many years... I know haha that doesnt change the fact i dont pay more than 50 fof any new device. Ive never broken off my family share outta sheer convebience and unlimited data. My pops dont even pay attention to the new 30 dollar equip charge either. But yea 5 lines. I get all the uogrades and buy my fam phones when they need em. My sister n mom are still on 4s with no desire to upgrade hah they all keep phones mad long and i cant sbe satisfied. Only trick is jus leaving one upgerade on there at all times in case of emergency. One time i had used em all n my mom let her phone fall off the roof of the car. Had to pay 400 outta pocket for a 4s thattt day cuz she couldnt be without hers and insurance said itd be a cpl days. Stopped paying insurance that day. Constantly flippin

Anyone with the M8 want to give an update on how they're liking the phone? My upgrade is this Friday so I'm going to test drive the M8 and if I don't like it I'll pay the restocking fee.

Can someone please help me out, what app can I use to mirror what I'm watching on my note 2 onto my tablet? I'm sure there's an app that will allow this.

Google Tweets blue-themed Android dialer app, Internet goes wild
Blue-Google-Android.png

Someone manning the @googlenexus Twitter account was helping a user with an issue, and sent out a picture of the phone dialer app. Apparently, they're not using the same version of Android that the rest of us little people are using, and the new color theme has caused quite the uproar.

HTC rumored to be the partner for the rumored Nexus 8 tablet
nexus-7-htc-m8.jpg

Back in January, DigiTimes reported that Google was working with ASUS on the next small Nexus tablet, but a report today from DigiTimes runs counter to that with the notion that HTC might be the one that Google goes with for the rumored Nexus 8 . Of course, any report out of DigiTimes we have to take with a grain of salt (go ahead and re-read that first sentence if you don't believe us), but they claim that Google is considering a new design and plans to launch the new HTC tablet as in the third quarter of the year.

The third quarter is just 2-5 months away, which we would hope means that Google's been contracting with HTC for some time for the Nexus 8 design. Where Google and HTC could go with a Nexus 8 is up in the air, though it's more likely that such a partnership would result in something more along the lines of the plastic-bodied HTC Desire 610 than the all-metal and all-expensive HTC One M8.

Not that we'd scoff at a well-built plastic device, as both the most recent Nexus 7 tablet and Samsung Galaxy S5 have demonstrated is possible.

ASUS reportedly dialed back their enthusiasm for the third-generation Nexus tablets following Google's imposition of new restrictions that would limit ASUS's involvement in the design mostly to that of a manufacturer.

HTC has been out of the tablet market since the dismal performance of the HTC Flyer 7-inch tablet back in 2011. It was thick, heavy, and slow for a tablet back then, though if the performance of the HTC One M8 is anything to go by, HTC's got their design and engineering ducks in a row now if they're to do a new Nexus tablet. DigiTimes adds, however, that Google's enthusiasms for the Nexus 7 is also waning, having "served the purpose of boosting Android's penetration in the tablet market," and that the third Nexus 7 could be the last.

Is it due to all phones having different specs and that's why they're all over the place in terms of software version? Or is it more because of the cell companies?

Not sure about specs but I do know is that Verizon is always last to update their phones

It's always weird how so many phones are still on so many different versions. Some on 4.2, 4.4, 4.4.2. Once a new version is released I feel it should be available for everyone at the same time.

Well most people can get the latest Android if they learn how to root their phone. But most people dont want to and phone companies wont update theirs so they can get you to upgrade your phone.

Nah. It has nothing to do with getting you to upgrade your phone. At least in verizons case. They always lag because theyre throwin bloat galore on these things to generate other revenue streams... Vz tones. Caller id. Navigator. Protection etc.

They make milllllions of dollars off it

Theyve always been miles behind tmobike and att at getting new devices to the ppl and new updates. They dont eem care

I think every phone should have the N5's caller ID and its ability to search in the dialer for businesses close to you. That feature isn't touted enough.

Only the N5 has that? I thought that was just a Kit Kat thing. I love that feature though

Yo, what phones are you guys looking forward to?

I still have my Galaxy Nexus. It needs to be upgraded but nothing seems special to me these days.

Don't get me wrong, there are good phones out there but they lack that je ne sequoi.

Faster processors, more pixels in a camera, and fingerprint scanners are cool but they don't convince me to get a new phone.

Only thing pushing me now is the fact that my phone is laggy #ShrugLife

The M8 is cool. Battery Life is on point. Screen resolution is top notch. Snappy processor.

Camera is prob top 5 amongst all cell phones. I'm still not a fan of HTC sense but it's good in this phone.

It supports expandable memory which is a fading feature these days in the cell phone world.

It's a solid phone. As far as me getting it as my personal phone (it's currently my work phone), I can still hold out.

G3, Note 4, and HTC Nexus is preventing me from using my jump upgrade.
Am I wildin if I say that I hope Apple doesn't underwhelm me this year so I can purchase one of their devices?

(Got a MacBook Pro but have been against iPhone for the longest)

Not at all. Your just looking for something different because your getting a little bored of the Android platform. Nothing wrong with switching it up bro at the end of the day you'll be back with the new Nexus when it drops after u cop the iPhone 6.
