I remember we were debating what he was making last week I believe and saw this article and figured I would post it:

http://news.aazah.com/content/20-year-old-makes-3-million-dollars-year-youtube#.VRFxSGMkrQr
Meet YouTube superstar Marques Brownlee. He’s a 20-year old tech reviewer that has two million subscribers on his channel and hundreds of thousands of views for his videos. His lucrative YouTube career started in 2008 at the young age of 14 with a review of the HP Pavilion dv7t media remote. His passion for the analysis of technology led him to create tutorial videos and industry analysis that helped in building upon his loyal following.

To start out, his views fluctuated drastically depending on the content of the video. However, he didn’t give up and kept consistently putting out his work. He caught his stride leading into 2011 and started putting up view count numbers that often ventured into the hundreds of thousands. He hasn’t looked back since.

Last June, he held a secretly leaked iPhone 6 screen up to a camera and began stabbing repeatedly at its supposedly indestructible glass surface.

His outrageous routine and exclusive tidbits about the then-yet-to-be-released iPhone 6 proved to be a potent combo for the highly influential phenom.

Employing a mix of descriptors that come natural to college students – "super high-quality" – and the hardest-core of tech geeks – "zero percent opacity" – Brownlee's five-minute review instantly went viral, attracting nearly 8 million video views.

Brownlee's influence is reflected in his online traffic numbers. He has arguably the most subscribers – 1.8 million – among individual YouTube tech reviewers. As of last week, he was ranked top three in the most influential "science & tech" channel rankings by YouTube performance measuring firm SocialBlade, which looks at social media referrals, online traffic and interactions with and among subscribers in its metrics. (Unbox Therapy, a tech product channel run by Lewis Hilsenteger, and CrazyRussianHackers, which runs videos on science pranks, ranked higher.)

His 686 videos have been viewed 158 million times. And last year, Vic Gundotra, a former Google exec who headed the development of Google Plus, called him "the best technology reviewer on the planet right now." Google "best tech reviewer" and his name floats to the top quickly.

His business is lucrative enough. Brownlee's income from advertising shown on his videos – Google does all the back-end work on placing them but takes a big cut -- could range anywhere from $1,117,000 a year to $3,434,000, depending on the amount paid per thousand clicks, according to SocialBlade, which estimates YouTubers' incomes using online traffic.

Given that the ads on his videos are generally for tech devices, his rates likely run on the higher end of the range, SocialBlade's Arnold says.

His popularity has opened doors, and dealing with the gatekeepers of the industry is much easier now. "Now the companies are very open to working with me," he says.

Like other YouTubers, he's reluctant to talk about money, but suffice it to say it's no longer just a dorm hobby. Now an incorporated entity, his video operation – run under the channel name MKBHD (his initials plus "high definition") – brings in enough advertising revenue to pay for his expensive equipment, the devices he reviews, travel and other expenses, he says.
Let that man flourish

Those crabbing about the battery life, get one of these and deal with it. 1650mah with fast charge capability. It's small and only $30. With the S6 quick charge you can top your phone off in around 10 minutes.

"But I shouldn't have to buy extra accessories" Yeah yeah, blah blah. Then don't get the S6 and keep the Note 4 or S5 forever.

They don't want to have to buy a portable charger to charge their phone.
They want to have to buy and carry an extra battery altogether instead...and then turn off the phone, take the back off and replace the battery and power it back on  .

I personally loved being able to swap out batteries and going from 0% to 100% in 10 seconds. I never needed to worry about my phone being tethered to the wall.

Does that Monster external battery have quick charge capabilities? Just because a phone has the capability doesn't mean you can put it on any charger and have the quick charge activated.

Well it charges at an output of 1.5 Amps which by most standards is fast charging. Exxon gave out free portable battery chargers at our Fall 2014 career fair and I used it for my Galaxy S5. Sucker charged the phone very quickly. Wasn't quite sure of the specs since it wasn't in retail packaging. These little portable chargers are life savers in that you do not have to be tethered to a wall while charging, and it's not a fat ungainly case like Mophies.

Dudes tryna throw shade have never had replacement batteries im convinced. I used portables for my m8 and a batt swap is infinitely more convenient... 10 seconds. 100% no extra baggage. Also the convenience of knowing as long as i got an extra batt n the glovebox i dont eem hafta worry about charging is so clutch. i dont wanna be plugged up to nothin.

Or they could just make a phone with decent battery life.

G2 always got me through the day into the next. Shouldn't take my phone off the charger on my way to work at 7 and have it crap out before happy hour is even over that night.

I rather have an older phone that makes it all day, than the new hotness that's just a nice looking paperweight.

Stop it 5. The m8 and the N4 have some of the best battery life in the game. Neither will quit before the end of the day...

Maybe u dont understand.... now i NEVER hafta charge my phone... EVER.

i simply take the used one out pop it on the charger put the fresh one in. I have a cord in my car for energencies but thats it.

Break free freinds. Its glorious

There's no way it's gonna top out any phone at 1.5A. Still a nice product though.

Yea. External batteries are great. I have a 12,000mAh one that's saved my life several times while traveling. But traveling is really the only time I would use it. With replaceable batteries, I would swap it out both at home and while traveling. I would never have to worry about a microUSB cable (been through 4-5 in the 2.5 years I've had the Nexus 4).

I have a 6500 mAh external battery and it has come in clutch several times as well. My N5 comes off the charger at 8am most days and is on the verge of death by 3pm :smh:

Semantics bro...Forget about specs for the moment. Real world usage with my portable battery charger charged my GS5 rapidly. I could get almost 50% from being at 2%. The Monster is clearly better than the gift I got from Exxon at the career fair.

1 more question, does T-mobile still give discount to Govn't employee? Currently getting 17% off my bills with AT&T, wondering if T-Mobile does the same ....going in on the Family Plan maybe this weekend or next ...

No extra baggage....but the portable charger is about the same size as an extra battery.

Keeping an extra battery in your glove box? With the heat building up, no wonder people are having battery issues

Most phones these days should be lasting people the entire day or at least majority of it.

I only had spare batteries with the OG Nexus a few years ago and I not about that "extra battery/fat phone/case doesn't fit" life in the least bit anymore.

Also...say you charge your phone 100% and take it off charge for the day. You also have a spare battery that you charge too. You leave for the day and go about your business like usual. At what time/point in the day is your battery dying where you have to switch? And...the battery you have been keeping with you...what % is that battery at when you finally switch to it?

I gotta remember a lot of you guys live in the city too and walk/metro/bus/etc to a lot of places. I have to drive pretty much everywhere I go, so if the battery is low, I can just charge it in the car on my way and be good when I get there. That is if I need a charge at all in the first place though.

I personally wouldn't put a spare battery in my glove box. If I know I'm going to need another battery, I keep it in my bag or pocket if I don't have a bag.

I'll switch it when the battery's

I'm about to debunk this foolishness about how a spare battery is a better alternative than a portable charger after my workout.

How you gonna debunk someone's opinion and preference though? :rolleyes

Hes not. Lol

Those of us that have both know the drill.

Granted i have not tried that particular model or any of the next gen ones honestly but it wouldnt make a dif it took 30 seconds to fully charge... it still only takes me ten. Not to mention im extending the life of the og battery getting 2 additionals and a charging dock for them all for 29.99

No wear and tear on my port either.

Debunk away

if i had a difficult case to uninstall it might be a different story but i only ever cop diztronics. I can litterally be reeboting at 100% in sub 15 seconds. And having three makes for a perfect rotation. It worked/works like a charm on my N2 and N4

Edit: screen brightness on a hunnid all day no damns gave :pimp:

Me: "My favorite food is pizza"

EWD: "Nah, let me list the reasons why a cheeseburger is better."

Not sure what there is to debunk. External batteries and replaceable batteries are two different things that serves different purposes for different people. One isn't a substitute for the other.

As if the United States Postal Service wasn’t already in deep enough water with the countless online innovations making physical mail obsolete, Google’s  new service could make paying your bills as easy as having a Gmail account.

Re/code reports that Google is working on a project called Pony Express that will allow users to view and pay their bills straight from their Gmail accounts, without having to visit those awful websites belonging to utility companies and other service providers.

According to the document that Re/code got its hands on, the service is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2015. Pony Express (which may just be a code name) would give Google access to even more personal information than it obtains when users sign up for an account, allowing for more specific targeted advertising and could be “a gateway into industries such as personal finance or lending,” as Re/code notes.

Images from the document show that signing up for Pony Express requires users to input data including full name, social security number, telephone number and credit card information. Once verified, users will receive bills in Gmail or the Inbox app. It’ll even have its own folder:

google-inbox-pony-express-folder.png

Using the credit card or bank linked with the Pony Express account, users will be able to pay their bills without ever leaving their Gmail application. You can even share a bill with another Gmail user, so this could be perfect for roommates who split utility costs.
I am usually all for Google and their stuff, but I am not so sure about this one. They should pay from your linked accounts and cards in Google Wallet and not have to re-enter them. I am also not down with putting that SSN on their stuff either. They have enough info as it is
