I would disagree.
Nike has a way of keeping thier not too well spoken athletes or light spoken ones apart of the commercial not BE the commercial.  Kids LOVE Blake... White People Love Black.. Brotha's respect his game.  He has HIGH crossover appeal to casual and not so casual fans which are who you want to sell shoes to and their kids will want those kicks as well.

Good kid who works hard and says little and when fights occur stands back for the most part.  Who can't sell that? (Adi & Reebok) I kid I kid.

RockDeep may have nailed it... hardworking and a assurance of humility are revering characteristics, and that trait alone may win the heart's of the masses, perhaps? Also it doesn't hurt that he chestnuts his opponents too, ask Timofey...

Traditionally big men dont really sell shoes. They are not highly marketable like the guards/forwards of the game. For some reason people relate better to the them. I dont doubt the potential but look at Amare. Great player and really explosive. Doesnt have a great selling signature shoe.

Its all about footwork and how pretty your stroke/shot looks.

But this is a new era/generation. Kobe, probably is the last of his breed and it's being taken over by monstrous/dominating style of play.

Wade coulda continued it for a bit but... He's just getting shadowed now

I don't see this "Big Men don't sell shoes" argument applying to Blake...
Why? because he isn't like the past big man...

He's more of a Hybrid, like Lebron...

He's electrifying to watch, and has constant highlights so far...I have yet to hear anyone say negative things about him, or anyone not being a fan...

He isn't doing just post up moves, and 16ft jumpers...

His highlights and the fact that he isn't a jerk yet is what can help him...

The Griffin is perfect for him though!
