NT, What Beer Do You Drink?

Rounding out the series:

Cellarmaker collab.  Hop bill is Cascade, Citra, Nelson, and Motueka.  Honestly the most disappointing of the cans today.  Nothing "dank" about this beer.  Lots of tea notes with a generalized sweetness.  Meh. Off to the BeerAdvocate ISO:FT forums I go.  Already got a few people offering up some fresh Trillium beers.  They can't all be winners, I guess.
Bummer you didn't like this collab. Cellarmaker makes really good hoppy beers. I was just at the brewpub yesterday. Mo' Nelson is

Sucks that this had to be my first taste of something Cellarmaker-related. Feedback of All Dank Everything on BeerAdvocate is very mixed.  Luckily I had a bunch of people willing to trade for it.

Come tomorrow I'll be shipping the remaining All Dank cans I have in exchange for a ton of fresh Trillium (DDH Melcher, Vicinity, Congress Street, Upper Case, Heavy Mettle, etc.).  Not exactly sad about it.

Traded away all of my All Dank Everything cans aside from the one I'm drinking currently.  Yep....no regrets.  None of the notes I look for in an IPA.  No fruit/juice notes, no pine/earthy/grassy/dank notes....just straight tea leaves and sweetness.

I can't even really blame Cellarmaker, though.  The collabs are getting tired with Other Half.  They have a large variety of flagship beers and single hop IPAs that consistently taste great.  They might not draw the insane crowds, but they ALWAYS sell out and are always on point.  The collabs are a gamble.   I don't know if it's a lack of confidence, the name appeal of a lot of the breweries they collaborate with, or the "one-off" factor that keeps beers like this going...but I feel like Other Half doesn't fully embrace their worth in the craft beer world.  I long for their "regular" releases.

are all these beers yall posting craft beers?
Technically yes. Mostly your localized beers that may be only brewery only, state specific, or regional specific. Think in "rare"or limited shoe release terms, or anything else limited, and that's pretty much what a lot of what is posted is here. A lot of what I drink may be brewery only, or released in just 2-3 states. The # of breweries in the USA is at an all-time high. You could probably drink a beer a day for 5 years in your very own region alone without drinking duplicates.
---------------------

Anyone try Founders Devil Dancer? 25th anniversary triple IPA. I missed a tapping and also some bottles released a couple days ago (just 10 days old at that time).

The "craft" term has definitely shifted. There's a term "crafy". It's the blue moons, shocktops, Leinenkugels of the world. Owned by big Corporations, they try to cater to the craft fan, but ownership wise, they aren't really there. AB INBEV is buying up quite a few breweries too. So your money isnt really going into that smaller "craft" quality brewery like you think it is. Even the likes of Cigar City is being bought by Private Equity Firms (Oskar Blues is owned by the same one (or at least in part)).. There is big money in this "craft" beer scene. Even Lagunitas is half owned by Heineken. I haven't stopped drinking Sucks. But there is definitely a fight out there.. (Ballast Point got bought out by Constellation for a Billion, the makers of Corona). For the most part, I feel every American brewery is still called or considering themselves "craft". So one definitely has to be careful (if they so choose).

I looked back in this thread to the first couple dozen pages. It started out with quite a few crafty or macro options. I guess that sorta got old. Each new post is pretty localized to styles/releases.. I like it

Euro Imports aren't "technically" "craft" in what others may want to describe, but those are viable options as well. I guess it has gotten quite murky around the craft scene.

When yall say 'dank notes' what exactly are yall talkin about. Cuz first thing that comes to my mind is weed.

Devil dancer is a 25th anniversary brew?? I drank A LOT of it last summer, I was able to get it for cheap due to it not sellin at the 20 something bucks for a 4 pack. It's not the smoothest brew, doesn't hide the alcohol very well but that's almost expected at 12% abv. I got a 2016 pack of it a month or two ago so I'm slightly confused that you missed tapping and bottling a few days ago

I read these twitter posts like they actually know what they are talking about.

Not mad at that trade at all! I'd probably do the same

Not sure if it was Devil Dancer, but I had whatever TIPA they had on tap at Founders when I was out there last summer.
Took one sip and said "Nope". Gave it to one of the people I was with.
It's weird. I've never had a TIPA I liked, I'm very selective about IPA's, but I'll drink just about any DIPA that is out.

The hop plant and marijuana plant come from the same family and are very similar so you see alot of crossover in the slang/language used to describe beers smell/taste.

Anybody on Untappd? Hmu: NovakSpinchenzo

Some day this week I'll be doing Goose Island's 2015 Bourbon County Barrel Stout vs Firestone Walker's Parabola.

Does anyone have any of the BCBS Rares they'd let go for the low?

Also looking for Headytopper. Down to make trades or just cop. I did it back to back with Pliny the Elder before and I've been craving it ever since.

Couldn't agree more.

Wally droppin the ill knowledge on beer.how much do you drink? from trainers to beer, you da man
Probably averaging 1-2 an evening weekdays. Could be 3-6 on weekends. I don't drive drunk. Never had duis. I finish my work and enjoy home time. I'll be honest. I see people on untappd going crazy every nite. Nothing wrong with that. But don't lie about your habits.

Local brewery has this great smash series. This months, mosaic smash. Juicy as heck man. This hop gets me. I get this hop.

5.5% 65 ibu, yet has all the hop dynamics as a bigger ipa or dipa. I think I'm done with even your 7% ipas. 5.5 to 6.5% is my new money zone.

Calling it now. Pale ales are the new ipas

Traded away all of my All Dank Everything.  First care package rolled in today.  Drinking the first pick of the litter now:

Chose to drink this first because it's the oldest of the bunch (bottled 05/06).  This one was a good one to start with.  It set the precedent.  Hard not to get excited trying your first Trillium beer, but this was a grounding experience.  While very good, this didn't live up to my expectations.  Almost reminiscent of a Singlecut beer.  Hell...I think I prefer Bon Bon over this.  Nice to try, and still way better than All Dank Everything, just not the experience I thought it would be.  Gonna be approaching the rest of my bottles with an element of skepticism.

Wally, i feel ya. Im really scared to drink and drive so i just dont drink at all when im out. Ill only drink the good stuff at home anyways.

I prefer Singlecut over Trillium. Maybe I'm a little spoiled. I'm in Mass, so trillium is everywhere in my neighborhood. Local restaurant always has it on tap. It is usually pretty solid though
