Another for Billionaire. Curious to see what the cognac does to the flavor of the beer.

I had Road Warrior at the A's game a couple weeks ago. Hands down the best beer I've had at a sporting event.

I went with the billionaire. Pardon the cheesy photo. Gf thinks I should try harder to get more instagram followers. I had higher expectations for it but a few sips in and I'm a bit underwhelmed. Review coming in an hour or so

2 things. Get this book: Amazon product ASIN 0060531053It's like the Homebrewer's Bible.
And seek out a local homebrew shop.
We got out first kit for about $100.

And we spent a bit more and bought a 6 gallon kettle.
Going in person to a shop may ease any "anxieties" you may have and you can actually see what you are buying instead of just looking at pictures over the internet.

One recommendation before you buy anything.
Read one of the instruction guides for a extract kit homebrew kits.

It's not too technical. Most brewing is not if youre just doing it for fun. You can of course go up a notch, as with all things in life.

Last night I did not do the three IPA/DIPAs like I have been anticipating. Maybe tonight.. But I did go with a couple Dale's Pale Ale. A nice revisit. and I was not disappointed. Having a elevated IPA afterwards, I realize Dale's is way low on both the hop smell and taste. But still has a solid bite. It's medium bodied though, so it really does taste a bit heavier than it really is. Drinks like a 8% beer. But after having a few, the bite isn't there. It's crisp, drinks well, and sometimes its just too hot to be carefully drinking a heavy IPA. This is a great choice for BBQs. BA score seemed to have dropped since the last time I had it. I liken it to a 91-92 beer level beer

I didn't realize I had only double IPAs left for my tasting. I started early and finished these guys off.
Mikeller. Kindled forgettable. Crisp citra bite but either the hops or fruitiness create some musky hop flavors. I see it all too often. Still I liked it to a 4/5 untappd
Hebrew. Nice rye sweetness. I also caught a huge amount of Alcohol smell and burn. Very malty. Hops kind of a background element. 4/5 untappd. Kind of forgettable once again
DFH took the cake. Oak aged flavors come out nicely. Very similar to the other two in other regards. But that woody flavor shines through so nicely. My favorite of the night.

Had these the past few days. First was Resin from Sixpoint Brewing. Got some nice citrus notes and caramel malts. A little boozy toward the backend but it wasn't overpowering. Overall a solid DIPA but I probably won't be seeking it out again. Second was Road Warrior by Green Flash. Just from the appearance alone, I could already tell what I would be tasting. This was definitely a hop bomb. Very bitter throughout with some spiciness from the rye and sweetness from the caramel to balance it out. Another solid offering from Green Flash.

Went out for a few last night. This Jai Alai White Oak was fantastic (I'm not a fan of the regular version). The owner of the bar said he's been asking for it for months and his guy at Brown Distributing was finally able to snag a case for him. Might have to go back tonight and have a couple more before they run out.

Anyone like Root Beer? Small Town Brewery in Wauconda, IL brews a 10% Root Beer Beer that is incredible. They also brew it in 19.5% which I haven't had but the 10% is some good ****. Right now it's not bottled but if you live locally, find it and try it. It's literally like root beer but 10% alcohol.

Yeah, that's the real name of it. I've gone thru 5-6 barrels of that in my kegerator. What's funny is I'll have Miller lite in there, and no one will care. I throw a keg of Root Beer Beer in and then every one coming outta the wood work to drink it.
One of my buddies I work with, his dad/uncle own it so I get a little hook up but some of their other beers they brew are just as good but that RBB is off the hook, man.
To the post above, I just had a keg of that Saturday for my kids bday, that went REAL fast.

We failed at a homebrew attempt of a root beer beer. Anise, and molasses was thrown into a stout beer base.. I think we had some left over root beer extract too.. Even trying to just take a base of root beer and trying to ferment is a challenge.
it looks like Sprecher's out of the midwest has a hard rootbeer now.. They make a great normal root beer. i buy a gallon of that when I can to mix with water for our little keg.
Next time, I think we just need to go with a blonde ale light beer base, and really hit home on the correct natural spices and flavors for the rootbeer

I like the Sprecher's because it has a hint of bourbon in it. With that said, it's still only like 5% or something like that. After a couple of the RBB's, you can def. feel them. The only down side is it can get a bit sweet if you drink too much but then again, it doesn't take much to get there.
Once Small Town start bottling that ****, it's gonna be huge. They did a run of bombers which apparently didn't last a weekend.

And they actually brew their own root beer for their beer. It's all done in house. I've always wanted to try and start home brewing, just never wanted to pay for all the equipment. Thank goodness my sister and her BF started, I'm just gonna piggy back on their stuff now.
