Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

JJ, I just watched Out of the Furnace on Netflix. It was a solid Netflix movie to watch. Solid cast... Bit of an indie like flick in that it's not a rah rah action drama...

Just watched Her again, this time with the wifey. Enjoyed it even more than the first time & my wife really liked it.

If it weren't for winner McConaughey (Chiwetel after that), Phoenix had an Oscar caliber performance. Not sure any other actor would've pulled off that flick like he did. Casting is so important.

Scarlett Johansson is even sexy as **** without seeing her...

This Boyhood movie is suuuper long.
Not bad though. It's taken me 4 hours just to get to the 2hour Mark though.

It seems the whole movie is focused on all the bad things that happen in life. Guess that was purposely, thought it was an "uplifting" type movie, not so far. 1 hour left though

Fellas, I need some movie recommendations. I'm not feeling what I have in my netflix queue, so maybe you all can help.

I'm looking for any sort of crime/drama movie along the likes of Gone Baby Gone, Mystic River, The Departed, The Town, Prisoners, etc. I'm just naming those off the top of my head, but I want to see if there is anything that I missed along the way. Obviously, I've seen the classics like Goodfellas, Casino, Donnie Brasco, Carlito's Way, etc.

I'm grasping at straws here because, look at this ****:

LA Confidential
The Usual Suspects
Brick

Not sure if you've seen those but a few off the top my head

Seen all of those except for Brick...going to add now. Thanks!

@JJs if yu can find it, I recommend One False Move. Its a crime drama set in a small town with Bill Paxton as the sheriff and Bill Bob Thornton as the bad guy. First thing I ever saw Thornton in and he gives an outstanding performane. A Simple Plan is another solid crime film that stars those same two guys.
Also, the Pledge with Jack Nicholson.

I'm assuming you've seen Donnie Brasco, but since its not quite as big as something like the Departed, I figured I'd mention it.

Haven't seen One False Move, A Simple Plan, or The Pledge...will def. add.

Jack Reacher.
Running Scared. (Paul Walker, not the Billy Crystal one)
Warrior
Argo
The Raid
The Raid II
Drive
The Next Three Days
Crossing Over (It's like Crash)
Michael Clayton
Fracture
Mr. Brooks
Lord of War
Chocolate (insane martial arts movie)

I'm sure you've seen most of these, but there has to be something on this list you haven't, and they're entertaining enough for a watch when you have nothin else. If you want any more info on any of them specifically let me know .

Going to add The Raid/II, Crossing Over, Fracture, and Chocolate...thanks, bro!

Out of the Furnace was FANTASTIC. I thought Woody stole the show.

Louis lane really is an ungrateful female dog in this movie.. At least at the start..

Dude saves your life and you go through all of that to try to 'out' him.. Literally showing up at his mother's house :smh:

Also I'm extremely concerned about Snyder doing batman vs superman.. Especially from the pictures that have been shown and going with an older batman..

If anything that should be the post justice league movie.. The you can do the dark knight returns properly.. The relationship between supes and batman is established and you have other justice league guys established, mainly green arrow

Also wish they went with the new 52 suit, basically the same suit but with the slight neck liner

Not a damn bad thing happened in the movie

Complete trash movie/waste of time

When the game stands tall is worth the watch, not that garbage

Watched Godzilla.

:wow: :wow:

I noticed it's in HD now.
So it's worth the watch?

Great movie IMO. I would've paid to watch it in theatres.

Going in my expectations weren't high but I was highly impressed.

Light spoiler but

Godzilla doesn't show up for a while

Gonna watch Spiderman now. Liked the first one, so hope this doesn't disappoint.

edit: Spiderman was cool, the funny parts were pretty funny. Sometimes a little corny tho. "Don't you know? I'm Electro", like cmon man

CGI was ******* awesome. DeHaan did a great job. Foxx was meh.

In terms of plot, felt like there was too much going on.

I thought watching it in black and white would make the movie a little more interesting but nope. Still can't get into it. This is my fourth attempt at the godfather and possibly my last.

We watch the Godfather (part 1 or 2) every Christmas Eve at my house. Sort of tradition at this point. It could seem a little slow but the first 2 films are cinematic masterpieces. I prefer 2 because of De Niro and the time period of young Vito. My grandparents came over around that time so it hits home a little seeing the fruit sold on the streets and the little things that went on during that time.

Yup.. Ages like fine wine.. The nuances.. Definitely not for those with short attention spans..

Like the other day I watched jaws again and it had been years since I sat and watched from beginning to end.. Really really good movie.. The way they built the suspense.. And you actually cared about the lead characters

The show is pretty good

They are also doing a web series about the guy who plays ****, trying to get a show all about **** going. The whole cast is supposed to play fictional versions of themselves. Sounds pretty funny

I used to hate Maggie Gyllenhaal's face
Her and Drew Barrymore- didn't wanna watch a movie w them in it
Than I saw Stranger Than Fiction
Undeniable sex appeal, bros

Random note: I used to pay attention to faces, until I started paying attention to women. Some of the ugliest birds, be the sexiest to me, my girl gets so upset that I can get a tall peter from a girl she thinks is Dust in comparison.

I tell her like Ghost told Tasha "I've been trying to tell you what's important, you just ain't been listening"
