Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

has jud apatow done anything good since knocked up? feel like he fell off.

IMO, Knocked Up was his last good movie. Didn't care for Funny People or This Is 40 and I'm not expecting much from the new film he's got coming out starring Amy Schumer - Trainwreck. So, yeah, I'd say he's fallen off until he proves otherwise.

I'm absolutely not.

Nope. A woman with a daughter shouldn't be acting that way on national TV. It's awkward and sets a bad precedent for Her child.
I don't see why you should be concerned or worried about her children like that. You're basically trying to impose your standards and principles on her. It's unnecessary and ill advised.

She's a funny person being funny.

When Will Ferrell trots out on stage in a diaper or some other weird get up nobody is bringing up the fact that he is a man with sons acting a certain way on national tv. The double standard gets real egregious in those cases.

I couldn't make it past 15 minutes of This Is 40. Just non-stop complaining from the characters about their lives.

Exactly. I saw it in theaters and wanted to leave after seeing it was an expanded, in-depth look into their Knocked Up characters, essentially.

I watched all of This Is 40. Pretty sure I commented on it too. Like other comedies I mentioned it was the ones where it was just too long for no reason like other Apatow flicks.

It also wasn't all comedy. I get the complaints about the characters just complaining most of the time. Definitely not a movie you'd want to watch again. Apatow's daughters in it were really good though.

I'd say the show Married on FX/FXX is This Is 40 done right.

i find a man in a diaper on tv to be disturbing as well and sets a negative precedent for his children.

you guys are so used to this behavior that you dont find it to be peculiar and off-putting which it inherently is.

I find it peculiar and off-putting... in primetime, or on a kids channel.

Late at night? I can choose to not watch it, or not watch a Ferrell movie, and that's exactly what I choose.

That's not my thing, from Ferrell or Fey.

But to judge one and not the other is a telling double-standard, as Zik was saying.

The only movies he's directed since are Funny People and This is 40. I liked Funny People but it wasn't consistent with the laughs and dragged at the end. I guess he has something coming with Key and Peele in addition to that Schumer film.

Oh I forgot to mention that Secrets and Lies finale was some bull

Only the prior ep they seed those signs and then they just spring it on us that the little daughter is a psychopath.

 @ doing the bid for your girl when it's clear she's a murderer that needs help.

Plenty ppl are peculiar. It's nothing wrong with that.

You'd have to explain why what she did is objectively off putting and why it is inherent off-putting. This again just seems like you want your world view to be the authority and everyone else is just wrong. We're the ones use to this behavior that is inherently wrong but you somehow see the truth that it shouldn't be something ppl get use to.

Sounds like bull **** to me pal.

Plus I'm not buying the feeling the same way about Ferrell's antics. Son is either praised for being funny or chided for being corny. Never called out for being a man or a father that's suppose to be some example for his children. Again the concern for his children also escapes me given the type of stuff he pulls which he has become famous for and made a living off of. Do you feel this way watching SNL? Was the cow bell sketch too much since his hairy belly was hanging out? or the old horny lovers skit with Rachel Dratch in the hot tub?

To sum up though, it just seems you don't have a good sense of humor or get the context and history of the Letterman show. Especially if you're really worried about "negative precedents". **** like that has specifically been happening on his show for decades. There was literally just a special for him last (or maybe this week) week with a bunch of celebs doing wild **** during interviews to make Dave uncomfortable or laugh or w/e. It is mean to be comedy. It is not setting an example for proper behavior for ppl in regular situations.

Also, if you see your dad on tv in a diaper or your mom in some underwear/spandex tights and think it's normal and don't get the joke of it you either are a stupid child or got some piss poor parents that haven't raised you with any common sense.

If she hasn't danced provocatively on TV as part of a joke on late night tv, she is a class act.

 not to push that any further than it needs to, it's just an odd, limited perspective for a young man to have. Relax, let go, live and stop being so judgmental.
