Nah I've seen other entertaining pirate **** that touches on the themes then moves on to a human non cgi threat. This constant zombies on the high seas is nonsense.
I mean yeah there's other pirate stuff they could touch on but one of the sometimes focused on goals of Jack is to become immortal so there's no surprise he keeps getting in to supernatural ****.

The 4th one with Blackbeard didn't really have any zombie pirates but it had mermaids, the Black Pearl shrunken and inside of a bottle, and a magic sword that controlled an entire pirate ship.

That one just wasn't all that good.

2 & 3 had half of the main threat being a regular human though and the other half wasn't zombie pirates just cursed fish looking pirates.

After 1, things got a lil too absurd.. and CG went over the top

They toned it down in 4, but that movie just felt like it was goin go through the motions.. least 2 and 3 had a couple cool parts

Like it tried to correct the flaws of 2, 3 and Lone Ranger movie

Don't Breathe

5.2/8

Actually a pretty effective thriller until the climax. The punchline was laughable and disturbing at the same time. Pretty disappointed because RT had me hyped for another good horror/thriller.

From what I've seen on here I generally disagree with most ppl that don't like 2 or 3.

I see nothing wrong with it.

Too absurd really doesn't enter my mind with a pirates movie. First movie was about a cursed treasure that made those who took unkillable. More importantly it hit the emotional notches (love story, betrayal, loyalty, lovable/misunderstood bad guys, etc.) they needed to with the relationships they were establishing. The plot and subplots all intrigued and played out well in the trilogy.

I think there was a definite tone change in 2 and 3

The first POTC felt like WS or even CW.. the other 2 felt like first avenger

So this new one is supposed to be the final one?

Just saw a commercial with "the final adventure" tag line

i didn't like snowpiercer but the imagery was pretty damn good. same director is back with okja and it looks good from the trailer. cast is interesting too. glad it's a netflix movie so there's no delay from release day to good copy bootleg.

I thought Snowpiercer was pretty awesome and had the best acting performance I've ever seen from Evans. Really looking forward to Okja

Caught Alien: Covenant last night. 6/8

It looked great. Fassbender is amazing again. The answers I got were pretty underwhelming though. Worth your $$$.

Guy's King Arthur was so damn disappointing

Felt like a wannabe peter Jackson movie with some of guy's usual stuff thrown in.. actually the more I think about it, he ripped off a fair amount from the lord of the rings movies

Man, I was hyped for it until I watched Charlie Hunnams performance in Lost City of Z. He's not a great actor at all man. He killed it on green street hooligans and has had hollow performances ever since (I don't watch sons of anarchy. I've heard he's good in that though).

Anyways just hearing that Arthur didn't blow you away puts dude in 3 strike territory for me. Can't rock with his stuff anymore

And still got hope for him and my dude riggins

Marvel needs a captain Britain, could save his career like they did Chris Evans

So I guess guy ritchie won't be able to make it a 6-8 series of movies like he wanted fo.

Highly doubting it.. and even the future setup was pretty weak, unless there was some after credit I didn't stick around for

I see the potential for a rugged King Arthur, maybe dude needs Vaughn back by his side

Chris Nolan is British

Going watch tomorrow.. or at least that's my plan.. need this to be good

But Prometheus annoyed the crap out of me.. the talent was there and was a ton that could have been explored based on the setup.. but it failed for dumb reasons

Also had amazing visuals

Love alien and aliens though

Charlie Hunnam is a perfect example of white male privilege, no reason for him to be starring in any big films.

I have always thought this. I thought Lost Coty was gonna be his "7 years in Tibet" Brad Pitt type launch but it fell flat. Like, if he can't nail that role, I don't have much hope for him. Comic book films would def be cool and all. It just seems like he could or should be more talented than hat :/

From what I recall about him stepping down, he wasn't feeling the sequel at all and it conflicted with another movie he signed on for which I think was The Lost City of Z (or siething else in not sure) and he really wanted to do the other movie so execs and the director let him go.

And I don't think things are similar wit Evans. He's never shown that grace of lite tially being a great actor but he was merely wallowing looking for a hit. He was in good to solid movies with average to solid performances before Cap.

Charlie is out here right now kinda hurting.

He kinda goes under the radar cuz he shorter and scrawny but he is like the many other straight white male actors Hollywood tried to push on the audience and it just fails.

The key difference here being is most of the movies Charlie is in tend to suck (I've only seen Pacific Rim but haven't heard good things about him in Lost City of Z or King Arthur although no think Z has a good RT score so I will check these movies for myself).

Green street hooligans is good.. but dude is suffering from some poor choices like riggins

Pacific rim was easy.. I get needing to get your name out there.. but big budget movies can be a curse if they flop, cause then studios take the easy route and blame you (see again riggins)

Sometimes you're better off taking a smaller role in something better.. build.. sons of anarchy was great for him.. and who woulda guessed a guy ritchie movie would be this much of a mess cause other than the Madonna movie his movies have been entertaining

We spoke of this before, but I wonder about Munn passing on the role in deadpool for psychlocke.. wonder how many pictures she signed on for and if fox just clears house when they realize singer gotta go
