what makes gary's situation different from webber's other than gary already has a ring? gary gets labeled as a ringchaser and webber isn't?

Bandwagoner. He WAS a good player, but just because you've paid your dues doesn't mean you get to pick and choose what team you want to be on,especially on the downward slope of your career.

Gary really enjoyed his time in Boston. I would love for Gary to join the team, if for not else as a tutor for Rajon.

GP didn't even want to be show up to Boston camp years ago when he got traded, and now all a sudden its all good? I love the seattle supersonics GPand Reignman, but slowly I'm losing respect for him. Yea, he can make an argument that he just wants to have fun and help? But seriously, 3 monsters isbetter than four. check the lakers. There are just not enough possessions during a game for four players to make an impact on a court.

Rondo is already a very good defender....with payton mentoring him
plus they need a back up PG. The only real PG in Boston is Rondo.

You can't compare this team to the '03-'04 Lakers.
Payton more than likely would be coming off of the bench, there's good team chemistry on the Celtics (nobody forcing or complaining about shots), andnobody past their prime would be starting or looked at to make a major impact on the game, as Payton & Malone were back then.
And no O'Neal/Bryant drama.

yes it does. you can sign a contract with whoever you want (if they want you). and if they dont want you, you can retire.
malone, payton, barkley, pippen, shaq, even jordan did it.

I think he can help with his defense. But I don't think that's why he wants to go there. He probably wants the ring.

Gary didn't want to show up initially but he did. And he really enjoyed playing for the Cs even when they weren't doing well. He even reconsideredsigning with them instead of the Heat. He was there when the Cs weren't contenders and now he wants to help them win a ring, I don't consider that ringchasing to the fullest extent.

if they can't sign anybody else as good, they should just go with GP, since they need a verteran presence in that position.
