First time I heard ICFMF I was "eh" on it....now I think it's dope as hell.

As long as he can continue to do pop with his own grey area spin on it, I don't think I'll have any problems with his new direction.

I'm the agree with the bolded highlights

The Hills is fire as hell though

but I really hope he doesn't sell out completely. I'm getting a little nervous because I like the dark (drugs and sex) unstructured style he was on but I guess time to put my faith in him.

Vid was good.

I saw the him being lit on fire and people finally starting to feel him as symbolic for the deal with the devil. I didn't pick up on the first part with the fan symbolism as much good post C.Magneto C.Magneto

He was terrible according to everyone at the beginning of the video. The devil shows up...he sells out the devil lights him on fire and everyone all of a sudden is feeling him. So the fire = losing the old and gaining the new. Or just taking him to the next level. From one person liking him some hating him to everyone liking him like his career is currently on fire.

The hills cut of him doing it live is still 10x better then the actual song to me because of how the base hits and him singing the chorus harder. ICFMF forever has a great build to a lackluster chorus. I needed some high notes in the chorus. Like in the vid he is singing the chorus but it comes out all hum-drum. The song will probably be better live as well.
 
Just another note, if you look closely there's a girl who some what resembles the girl from Thursday covers in the shades. All the girls who I think are symbolic of the trilogy era tend have their faces darkened in this video similar to the rolling stone motif.

Abel's gotta be hearing the gripes from his fans that were down from the jump about him goin pop right? On another note, I wonder if Kissland album sales will increase after BBTM drops?

most definitely

pretty sure trilogy and kissland sales got a jump after "earned it" dropped...all these top 40 listeners must've ran to confession once the delved into trilogy tracks

Thing about The Weeknd though is his style and sound is so unique that even when he goes pop he stands out. The Love Me Harder and Elastic Heart features weren't House of Balloons material, but they were still Abel. It was still his cadence and his style. I had no problem with him singing over instruments like he did on Earned It. Can't Feel My Face was so unexpected, but still so dope. Getting a little played out on the radio, but still.

He's just evolving. Can't be on the same shtick forever. More popular he is the longer he'll be around to make dope music. The Hills was a throwback to the mixtape sounds IMO. He still has it and the music he makes still sounds like nothing anyone else out has, even when it is pop.
 
safe to say the most recent Weeknd track i listen to is liable to be my favorite...classics upon classics

was repeating the track between 2:55-5:00 mark or something just a few days ago @Bronco19dm

That Prisoner snippet is pure flames. Probably my favorite new track of his and I haven't even heard the CDQ yet.
 
After all the comments in here today, the general positive response to the snippets, the article from the other day, and the video for icfmf... I have no f****** idea what to expect from this project. :lol: :smh:

I'm riding with it regardless, and I still think we're in for something enjoyable come 8/28. It's just so many indicators coming from all ends that it's completely throwing people off. :lol:
