The Official Anime & Manga Thread Vol: 三

Was a fan of SAO so started watching Log Horizon. Liking it so far.

From this list, what should I start first? :nerd:

Samurai 7
Neon Genesis
Claymore
Code Geass
Darker than Black

No way Onoki was introduced in 08. Probably more like ... damn 2009? 5 years flew by that quick??

That gif. That feel. Realy feels like the Kage summit was just yesterday. Time flew

I'm lowkey mad nobody gave props to Kakashi for saving himself, Sakura AND Obito within a split second with that amazing little Macgyver move he did
obito got sorta dropped in the lava though right? since they didn't show all of him in that panel...

^i think he is still crucified on the mountain rock.

How many episodes before Bakemonogatari gets good? Watching the first episode now and Im having difficulties catching on.

It's a real dialogue heavy show, give it the 3 episode rule, there really isn't a specific episode where it "gets better" you just have to get a feel for it, it's really not for everyone, I got turned off after the first episode too, but I went back a couple months later and finished it

Seems interesting, the animation style is definitely different than i have seen. So far im just trying to keep up with the lightning quick subtitles lol.

Man, this was the ultimate struggle

For four or five episodes out of each season I would be pausing and rewinding EVERY time to see if it was something interesting, but it just gets annoying to do after a while so I let it go

They're usually interesting, but I don't feel like it takes anything away from the show if you don't catch them.

They really don't

The lightning fast subtitles don't bring anything to show story wise

Any suggestions for good comedies? I would love to watch something as funny as GTO or Golden Boy. Ive seen/tried most of the new comedies the past 2/3 years or so.

even the bad guys don't die!

(this is in reply IF you're talking about fairy tail)

I never really expected minivera to be over and done with.. i mean they held on to her for far longer than they should've anyway. I like her being a rival to Erza but every fight they've had ended in a stale mate so i'd rather her get her wits about her , have something to fight for and then they really go all out later.

Look at One piece, only 2 people have died there. (RIP ACE and Whitebeard) even with Luffy KOing mad people.

But i'll admit Fairy tail just doesn't write as good as OP so i hate to really compare.

No idea what y'all talking about as I don't reach fairy tail manga.

But WHYYYY ODA WHYYYY ACE BRO... :smh: :smh:

**** ain't fair :frown:

I think its pretty cool/wild how oda utilized ace. He was the older stronger brother had cool powers had 2 great fights. Lone wolf character. Then he snatched him away from us. Not only now do we an objective of getting one piece but we have a revenge aspect. And not just on one guy (akainu) who cant really be considered a bad guy. More of a strict character. But we also have the bad guy who has to get beat (blackbeard)
The other cool thing about OP is that the line is so thin with whosr good and whose bad. Luffys crew are our heroes but at the same time theyre pirates.
Even the marines. Are a toss up as to whose trying to serve and protect and whose just out to flex

@mugen81 you need to get hip to it brotha I know it didnt grab your attention but I would say just start at the cp9 arc

Doflamingo's marineford speech sums things up perfectly "Pirates are evil? The Marines are righteous? These terms have always changed throughout the course of history! Kids who have never seen peace and kids who have never seen war have different values! Those who stand at the top determine what's wrong and what's right! This very place is neutral ground! Justice will prevail, you say? But of course it will! Whoever wins this war becomes justice!” It's all a matter of perspective.

I like how Oda took the Anti-villain route with Akainu, but also with blackbeard introduced a traditional villain. There's no true righteous hero in the story, not even Luffy. While Luffy does good deeds he only does what he cares about. If you're not friends with him he doesn't really care if you live or die or the evils of the world.

I thought Mugen81 got to Alabasta, but it was getting hard for him to deal with the characters splitting up and the multiple plot lines? Might be thinking of someone else though. Idk if i can cosign skipping arcs in OP although the Wiki does give pretty thorough summaries for arcs. It's just that there are so much foreshadowing and plot lines that are missed by skipping arcs. Plus a lot of the impact of water 7 and Enies Lobby is from the attachment to the characters that's developed. Like if you skip everything the Ussop/Luffy/Merry situation doesn't matter too much. The Robin situation loses impact. The fights and action are still there but a level of the depth is lost.

Good way to put it, that's what I love about OP...that thin line between good and bad.

And yeah doffys speech is on point.

It still trips me out how much I f w/ OP now...never woulda thought I woulda liked it at all, really feel like I missed out not starting to mess with it earlier.. :smh:

I thought we got Robins history in the water 7 enies lobby arc....?

the Usopp Lufy merry situation can be summed up to this... hey both love the ship but Luffy wants to move on ... and usopp wants to keep it.

we did get a lot of the crew history, but if he read up to alabasta he should be fine honestly.. what's before enies lobbies..?? was it Thriller bark?
(I personally liked thriller bark) but he doesn't need to read thriller bark unless he wants the LOLZ
