OFFICIAL HOCKEY THREAD: NHL, KHL, NCAA, IIHL

Congrats to Kings and Rangers fans on the Stanley Cup appearances. May the best team win. I see no experts picking the Rangers as of yet. Hank is good enough to steal two.

Henrik indeed is good enough to give the Kings problems. Quick is great as well but he's not 2012 Quick.

Kings are tougher then any team the Rangers have faced so far in the playoffs though. I hope they keep the foot on the pedal after such an emotional win last night.

Such a fluky *** deflection to lose on. :smh:

Great season Hawks.
Now you feel the pain Wild fans feel after losing to dumb *** puck luck to the hawks when a dump-in hit high off the glass and landed in front of the net so Kane can just back hand it home.

Should've been our series. :smh:

I felt similar when Quick allowed the 3rd goal seconds after they tied it. That's hockey though. One bad break or deflection can cost a team their season. Chicago had their chances though. All those leads they blew. They'll be back next season though and I legitametely wouldn't be surprised to see these teams go at it for round 3 next may.

Ya, we did blow a few solid chances.

Wish hockey would change the rules so goals like that wouldn't happen. I mean they duel and grind it out for 7 games and it's decided on the puck bouncing off someones torso. Only in hockey.

Thank goodness the Kings won. Couldn't bear another minute of the NBCSN 'hawks love.

Thinking its gonna be Kings in 6 or 7 games.

Yea, if it goes to OT, they should have have a chance on their own goal line to drive the puck up the ice and try for 6 point slapshot (one point for knocking the bottle off), or at least a snapshot, which is only worth 3.

Then the other team gets to try.

Rangers need to play every game like game 6 against the Habs to have a legit shot.

thats not knocking the rangers. thats respecting the kings.

and this is a Rangers fan speaking.

i would have rather them played Chicago honestly. Crawford was suspect all postseason. even when he played good he freaked out over letting a goal in.

kings have too much balance and now speed with Gaborik who is playing out of his mind. I hate playing against former Rangers.

how would the league even regulate that?

"No that was lucky, it doesnt count!" ... ?

It happens. Part of the game. And its a beautiful part of it for better or worse.

Major markets boost ticket prices

The Stanley Cup finals between teams based in the two most populated cities in the United States has, not surprisingly, turned into a costly affair.

Both the New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings put a limited number of tickets to each of their first two home games on sale for the public Monday. The face value of Rangers tickets ranged from $480 to $2,490, while Kings seats cost either $349 or $629.

Those who couldn't wait or couldn't get what they wanted took to resale sites and paid even higher prices.

The median price paid for a ticket on resale site StubHub for the first two games in Los Angeles is $628 and $626, respectively.

Hoping to see a game on the other side of the country? Games 3 and 4 in New York have sold on the site for a median price of $1,235 and $1,329 apiece.

"It seems like everyone is a Rangers fan now," said Jason Berger, partner in AllShows.com, one of New York City's biggest ticket brokers. "The get-in price for the first two games is now higher than the get-in price to the Super Bowl this year."

Berger said several other factors contribute to the high prices being paid, besides the obvious disposable income coupled with the lack of supply. The renovation of Madison Square Garden has resulted in fewer cheaper seats than previous years, he says, and the general lack of excitement in the New York sports scene has led to fans jumping on the bandwagon.

The last New York team to play in a major sports championship series in New York was the Yankees in 2009, and the Rangers haven't been in the finals since ending their 54-year Cup drought in 1994.

More from ESPN.com
The NHL can only salivate at the marquee matchup it has here: New York and Los Angeles, two big-time markets putting hockey on center stage, writes ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun. Story

Berger expects the price for the games in New York will fall, as many fans who hold tickets are willing to hold out until closer to game time to see what they can get.

Ticket aggregator TiqIQ said the average listed resale ticket price for Game 3 in New York is $2,197, while Game 4 is $2,347. That doesn't mean there will be enough fans willing to buy at those prices.

The market is somewhat softer in Los Angeles, which is used to playing top dollar for Lakers NBA Finals tickets. But Harris Rosner, who owns VIP Tickets in Los Angeles, said tickets won't be cheap if the Kings take this series to their fourth straight Game 7 this postseason.

Said Rosner: "I'm thinking you'll need $2,000 to get in to Staples Center that night."

As expected with the ticket prices. Garden prices have been Up since the renovation.. and the Rangers have a steady fan base in NY already. It's a hot ticket.

MSG only sits about 18,000 for hockey since the renovation, less than what it use to be. The resale value has to do with more of a demand rather than the increased MSG prices in my opinion.

Oh absolutely. Its completely resale pricing. MSG could be giving these tix away for $20 and this would still be happening.

One of my best friends paid $2200 for a ticket to game 7 in Vancouver. I dont even want to know what a game 7 ticket in LA would be. :x
