Wilson Chandler Receives FIBA Clearance

4:58pm: The Raptors are "highly unlikely" to sign Chandler this week, tweets Ryan Wolstat of the Toronto Sun. If Chandler is a restricted free agent again this summer, Toronto could get involved, but would probably need his asking price to come down (Twitter link).

12:06pm: Wilson Chandler has received a FIBA letter of clearance and is now officially eligible for restricted NBA free agency, according to agent Chris Luchey (Twitter link via Sportando).

Restricted free agents aren't eligible to sign offer sheets as of March 1st, so Chandler will have just two days to try to secure an offer from a team besides the Nuggets. Denver would then have three days to match any offer.

If Chandler doesn't sign an offer sheet before Thursday, he could either sign with the Nuggets or sit out the season and become a restricted free agent again in the summer, when more teams could have interest (and money). A rest-of-season contract with the Nuggets would allow Chandler to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, but Denver has indicated it doesn't plan to negotiate such a deal.

The Raptors appear to have interest in Chandler, but only have about $4.3MM in cap space, so the Nuggets wouldn't have much trouble matching any offer Toronto made. Yesterday, we heard Chandler and Luchey were in contact with an Italian team about the possibility of a rest-of-season deal.

Lawson is back.

Nene/Rudy out.

Gallo said he could be ready by the end of the week

Solid win tonight.  Games like this show me exactly why this team should've never re-upped Nene's contract.  Faried isn't nearly as skilled as Nene but he's tougher, plays with more heart/toughness and has a higher upside.  Hopefully we can get Chandler in here soon.

He wasn't exactly playing against a physical front line. Aldrige/Nene have a lot in common. Faried plays tougher and has a higher motor than everyone in a Nuggets uniform.
If anything is shows how awesome the coaching staff is a few months ago Faried was getting abused by Hakim Warrick now look how they helped him progress

Exec now that half the season is gone do you think Nene is worth the money? I know I don't.

No he was overpaid and has underperformed even by his standards but was necessary part of the puzzle moving forward.

Great win in SA. Ty really needs to keep this play up.

Hopefully the Nuggets don't come out flat tonight after yesterday's big game.

Nuggets point guard honored after averaging 20.7 points and 11.7 assists
Lawson named Western Conference Player of the Week
DENVER, Mar. 5, 2011 – Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson has been named Western Conference Player of the Week for games played Tuesday, Feb. 29, through Sunday, March 4, the NBA announced today.
Lawson took charge for the Nuggets, averaging 20.7 points, 11.7 assists, 7.0 rebounds and 1.33 steals as Denver went 3-0 against opponents with a combined winning percentage of .571. He shot .457 (21-for-46) from the field, .417 (5-for-12) from three-point range and .833 (15-for-18) from the foul line.

Lawson, who is in his first full season as a starter, opened the week by posting 18 points, nine assists and five rebounds vs. Portland on Feb. 29. He followed that with a 22-point, career-high 15-assist, seven-rebound and two-steal performance at Houston on March 2. He became just the sixth Nugget since 1985 and the first since Mark Jackson in 1997 to post at least 20 points, 15 assists and seven rebounds in the same game.

Lawson capped his incredible week with 22 points, 11 assists and a career-high tying nine rebounds on the road against the second-seeded San Antonio Spurs on March 4. Over the three-game span, Lawson dished out 35 assists while committing just four turnovers. He’s the first Nugget to combine for 35-plus assists while turning it over less than five times in a three-game span since Nick Van Exel in January 2002.

Additionally, Lawson is the first Nugget to average at least 20 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds over three games since Fat Lever did so in April 1989.

This marks the first Player of the Week honor for Lawson in his three-year NBA career. He is the first Nugget to win the award since Chauncey Billups won for the week ending on Dec. 27, 2010. He is the first Nugget other than Billups, Carmelo Anthony or Allen Iverson to win the award since Marcus Camby on Nov. 13, 2005.

I think it's safe to say he won't be in DEN uniform again period. No point in sitting out/ going to Italy then coming back to DEN and I doubt it's a money issue.
Hopefully a good piece can be acquired through a sign and trade or whatever.

He's a RFA, so Denver is in control. And I actually think it is a money issue, as the Nuggets are the only NBA team he can sign with right now, he holds no negotiating leverage. If he believes he can get more in the summer from another team than what the Nuggets are currently offering, then he's (financially) smart to sit out. This could be the only real payday of his career, so he needs to make the most of it.

Crazy game against Sacramento. Can't believe they pulled it out, I thought they were done. AAA & Ty

I figured the FO would be willing to pay what he's asking (7-8mil?) but he just doesn't wanna be in DEN. But since AAA is playing out of his damn mind as of late maybe the FO is offering less.

No effort so far. Hopefully they can pick up the energy in the second half.

Lawson and his TOs were huge. Nuggz had a chance to roll off a large winning streak but you can't lose games like this. This reminds me of the Utah game earlier in the year.

Pathetic, especially on the defensive side. Giving Jamison everything in the first half, then allowing Irving to get anything he wants & more down the stretch.

Guys just haven't wanted to compete these last two games. It seems that guys are cool with giving little effort on defense so long as they get to jack up shots on offense. I know Gallo is coming off of an injury but his shot has been off since the Sacramento game earlier in the year. Ty needs better ball security and needs to stop looking for the refs' help every time he blows a layup.

Interesting developments on Wilson Chandler front

March 9, 2012

In a recent New York Post article Peter Vecsey points out that if Chandler were to sign in Italy for the remainder of the season, he would then “forfeit the ability to do a sign-and-trade come summer — one of the CBA’s multitude of new rules.

Wilson Chandler Sets Deadline for Nuggets

By Alex Kennedy

Denver Nuggets’ free agent Wilson Chandler finds himself in a unique position after returning from his stint in China. The 24-year-old is a restricted free agent, but he doesn’t have many options. He can no longer sign an offer sheet with another team since the deadline to do so was on March 1. He can’t be traded because the new collective barging agreement now outlaws midseason sign-and-trades.

That means Chandler has two options when it comes to his NBA future. Chandler will either sign with the Denver Nuggets now or sit out the remainder of the 2011-12 season and enter restricted free agency in July, when more teams have money to spend. Chris Luchey, Chandler’s agent, continues to negotiate with Nuggets general manager Masai Ujiri and team president Josh Kroenke.

“These negotiations have been tough because the situation is so different,
