Air Jordan XX8 aka 2013, new "Proplate Zoom" Technology OFFICIAL THREAD.

u guys r idiots....lol......if its all about performance then buy the ugly jordans and sport them in the streets.....

sorry buddy, but your posts still does not make sense.
Air Jordans all have been always about performance and style, just like a Ferrari or Lamborghini.
The reason why most recent Air Jordans look less suited for fashion / casual wearing compared
to the older retros is, that the standard for performance basketball shoes changed a lot.
Back in the 1980's and end of 1990's all high performance basketball shoes were not really
much lighter than casual kicks. For instance the AJ XII was one of the heaviest models
of a pro basketball shoe.
Now with all the Flywire/lighbuilt trend when most basketball shoes are rather looking slim than bulky
(Lebrons are exeptions somehow), it would not make sense to make a sneaker looking cool but
sacrifice performance aspect.
It would be like trying to make a combat tank rather looking cool than being functional for the battle.

Sometimes compromises are needed to be made. And at least the Air Jordan 2012 (not the lite version)
still has leather as upper combined with the Flywire.

I just think that the majority of people wearing sneakers are just very conservative nowadays.
Until 2000, many people were still seeking to wear the latest new designs.
Now most are sticking with the old school kicks only.
I'm one of the few who wear all Air Jordan models off court and on court.
Only one I did not wear much off court are the XIX because they look so bulky with the shroud.

No, the reason the why the most recent Air Jordans are looking subpar is a subpar design team and the game shoe is tossed around like a bean bag at a bar.  NikeDealer(RockDeep) has spoken on this on many occasions.  I hate gravedigging but I specifically remember one of RockDeep's posts where he basically said that Tinker is basically involed in name only.  Think of the last shoe that Tinker really went to work on.....that's right, the XX3.  All of what you said is an excuse for subpar design bro, sorry.

i played in my jordan I,V,X,XI low,and my XX but i brought the for the look of the first.....that's all im saying......if they wasn't about the look why would they always have a clean look to them......so tell me u wore the jordan XI concord just for the performance? u would be lying ur *** off nobody wants 2 buy a $180 ugly shoe

I balled in every model I have from 1 to 21, 2010 and 2011.
The worst experience I personally had was with the AJ 6 retro from 2000 followed by the 2000 AJ 11 retros.
While they looked great, the traction and stability was below standard.
While the 1 had terrible cushioning due to its thin sole, the traction and fit was good.
From AJ 1 to 14, my favorite Jordans to play competetive basketball are the
10, 12 and 14.
Somehow my OG 13 had too soft midsoles for my taste. The retros feel much stiffer.
AJ 19 is one of the comfiest Jordans but the soft insole is not suited for guards who
want a more responsive sole structure.
AJ 2011 is my favorrite to ball in and I also wear them casual.
I just got mine 2012 E and I love them. Must admit that I really hated the 2012 at the beginning.
Similar effect like when I first saw the AJ 13 back in 1997.

eh....the 2011 and 2012 were also designed my maestro Tinker Hatfield.
Even in the past Tinker also made some not so popular Jordans like the XV.
I rather think that most people who dislike the new models are just conservative
in style or only like Air Jordans which MJ graced during his prime as a Chicago Bull.

I remember how the people flamed over the AJ 9, 12, 13 when they came out.
Remember, if MJ was still playing in the NBA and dominate the the league,
even the ugly 2010 would sell.
And if you did not know, the AJ 9 OG were the first bad selling Air Jordan. Why?
Because MJ retired before the season 1993/94.
When he came back on March 19 1995 and wore the Chicago 10, they suddenly sold
out within a short time.
AJ 17 and 18 were very expensive but yet sold quite well because MJ was playing in the NBA.

The XVII did NOT sell well with that 200 pricetag and briefcase.  That was Nike's first attempt at seeing what the market would bear and it failed miserably.  And, in case you didn't know this, Tinker also "designed" the 2010 with that BS marketing campaign for that window.  You totally missed what I was saying...Tinker's name is on the shoe but he actually has very little to do with the shoe, according to NikeDealer(RockDeep) and if anyone would know, it would be him.

well, let's say so. Tinker is also aging and his taste and inspiration also changes. He is still the lead designer for Nike not only JB.
And if he does not approve the design along other managers who have influence in the marketing and design, they would have alter it.
My point is that many people are sticking with the designs from the 1980's and 1990's, not open anymore to accept the new stuff
which look much more futuristic.
But for me Air Jordans designs since the AJ 9 have been like modern art, where you either like them or hate them.

I have 2 pair of the 2012s and they are by far one of the most comfortable hooping shoes I've played in. The 23s were also very comfortable. I agree about making the design a little more attractive but if the performance is anywhere near the that of the 2012 i will cop.

Yea right...

Back when Jordan first release. They were considered ugly  because the sneaker fashion wasn't as big as today. Jordan shoes didn't sold out in general. Many models ended up on clearance rack. Actually majority of Nike models end up on clearance rack

I remember buying concord and playoff xii for $79 off athlete foot clearance rack lol.

Now with all these celebrities and rappers and social media bs all of sudden Jordan become a must have accessories lol

Yeezy are ugly to me and not worth $250 yet it still sold out. I can bet 90% of people would fail the lie detector test if they say yeezy are nice lol.

THIS.
Usually every Air Jordan somehow made it to be on sales in many locations around the world.
Only in the big cities they sold out where enough Jordan fans were living who cared for his signature shoes.
Now since the 2011 concord craziness, quite every Jordan retro sells out.
I also remember how the majority of people dissed against the AJ 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 when they released.
But time to time they sold better. I think most people need more time to accept and like the
avantgarde design of Air Jordans. They are often one step ahead of any basketball shoes in terms of design.
Though the 2011 was rather a decent one, resembling much of the AJ 11 and 12.

The 2011 was the best Game Shoe since the XX3.  Rockin my 2011's now at work.  These are my do everything shoe.  Actually, I like the 2011 more than the XX3....I don't really wear my XX3's much.

hey, is your av supposed to raise awareness for amputee victims? or was it an attempt at lols?

You know, I have all the anticipation for this release to be something relatively familiar to the design and technological excellence that we come to expect from Jordan. But considering the direction after the 2011 with the 2012, it is very interesting that they continue to chose not to let many eyes view what may be on the horizon. Why is it that Nike Basketball is pumping out products that are leading Jordan, when they used to trail Jordan? Is it too much to ask to get some new designers involved to get them back on the right track?

DUDE!

Can some one @ JB please steal some pics .lol!

I surely hope that I won't see the usual crap again.

Or I'll be passing for the second time.

I'm really intrigued on this. Especially as a Jordan and Zoom fan.

My only question about all the Jordan Tech's...When have any of these trickled down to other shoes. It isn't like the Jordan marquee shoe has ever ushered in anything like flywire that we end up seeing in every shoe.

The carbon shank in the midfoot....debuted in the VIII and trickled down to the other Nike BB products, for one.

Jay's need to be created with the same great materials from the past. All "Real Leather, Suede, Cotton, etc." I have spent money on the retros and the material and integrity are just not available nowadays.

IMHO all the Jays after the xiv's are horrible to look at and uncomfortable to wear. I just hope NIKE returns Quality back to its products, not quantity...
